Elle Taiwan & New Monday

Dropped by Kinokuniya (Ngee Ann City) again today to pick up the new issue of New Monday, a Hong Kong weekly entertainment magazine (S$12.84). I'm not familiar with the title at all and purchased it only because it came with a large Paul & Joe pouch in a print from the spring makeup collection.

The pouch is quite possibly the largest that I've ever seen for a magazine freebie! It measures 26x17x11cm. The canvas-like material feels very similar to that of the Jill Stuart mook from last November.

The pouch has a very strong plasticky smell so I'll probably give it a good soak and wash before starting to use it.

Aside from 5 brush slots under the lid, there are no pockets. While the fabric is of decent thickness and the reinforced seams help to give the pouch a good solid shape, the interior with the thin polyester lining looks cheaply done with thread ends sticking out here and there. But given the relatively low price of the magazine, I wouldn't expect the same quality as the makeup pouches that are sold at the Paul & Joe counters.

Unfortunately, Kinokuniya only received a very limited shipment so this issue has already sold out.

I also picked up the February issue of Elle Taiwan as it includes a St Clare Loofah Refresh Dew 100ml (with a retail value of NT$400/S$18.60). I haven't heard of St Clare before but this looked intriguing as it is designed to help soothe, refresh and hydrate skin stressed out by the sun. Simply apply it on clean skin for three minutes and then rinse it off. It contains loofah extract, aloe vera gel, witch hazel, chamomile, sodium hyaluronate and cucumber extract.

Marie Claire Taiwan comes with a Lush eco-bag but I skipped it as it didn't look like something I would use.

What a large pouch! It looks like it would be very good for carrying bath/body/hair toiletries for travel.
