YSL Beaute pulling out of S'pore


A reader just left a comment informing that Yves St Laurent beauty will be pulling out of Singapore by 26 October. It is sad to see another prestige brand decide that our small island country is just not worth their time although admittedly, it is a very tough market environment even at the best of times.

YSL, which is famous for their Touche Eclat highlighter, has counters at Tangs Orchard and Robinsons Raffles City. Their Rouge Volupte lipsticks have also gotten massive raves on other beauty blogs. So if you have any favourites from them, do stock up before they disappear.

    Wow, that's quite shocking to see a major brand leaving like that. I guess they've been really hard hit in this economy.

    I don't own any YSL makeup, have never been that attracted by the brand although it does look like it has a high quality line up.

    it's surprising that such a high profile highend beauty brand is pulling out of singapore just as everyone else wants in, if only for the exposure that's being created by the IRs, F1 etc. that YSL not keeping a single counter at all suggests that the decision to pull out may not be just as simple as demand. after all, i don't think any brand actually sets up shop in sg based on demand alone... i hope to see YSL back soon, perhaps under another distributor or something

    I was quite shocked to receive the mailer from Luxasia about YSL pulling out. I'd always thought it had a loyal following. But then again, its been ages since I bought anything from the brand and none of their stuff appeal to me either.

    i thought there r other ysl counters also at takashimaya other than Tangs Orchard and Robinsons Raffles City? r they going to completely pull out the brand or is it only at tangs and robinsons? gosh, i don't want to get all my fav stuff through online again without testing them 1st.

    Maybe Sephora Singapore will bring YSL in. Now that you mentioned, Guerlain has been giving discount for their compact foundation quite some time back. Hopefully, Guerlain is not considering pulling out also.

    PINKY: yeah, even the SAs at Stila (at Tangs Escentials) were commenting that sometimes its embarrassing when customers ask why there is such a dismal range of stila products. the last time i was there, only TWO colours of lip glaze were in stock. and when stocks come in, they range from 2-6 pieces, often, 10 at the max. Sad sad ...

    Ohhh that suxxx, really weird, it's YSL!!!! Is RMK still avail in SG? The last time I was there in 2004 or 03 and they're on sale at Isetan Lido. Prescriptives is goin bankrupt in the US, too, leavin for good in Jan, I believe. Saddddd, what's next??? :(

    Hi,
    Luxasia is a separate company from DFS and it's Luxasia that is pulling YSL out of department stores such as Tangs. I'm not sure if DFS will also pull it, best to ask at the counter directly?

    Hi ladies, I just went to DFS orchard to buy YSL Touche Eclat. The DFS sales girl said that
    YSL will keep their counters at DFS Changi and Orchard. So no fear, we still have YSL make up counter in Spore.
