OPI Shatter & Not Like The Movies

Just tried out my new OPI Not Like The Movies and Shatter nailpolishes from the Katy Perry collection.

Not Like The Movies applies quite true to how it looks in the bottle. Even with two coats, the nail line was faintly visible if one looks closely. It applies quite smoothly without glooping even on the second or third layer.

With Shatter applied over it, Not Like The Movies appears more like a pale icy lilac. The matte black shatter effect appears within 20 seconds and dries down quite fast as well. Layering Shatter on too thickly will result in large chunky bits while too thin a layer will result in a smattering of small flakes, so this will definitely take a bit of practice to get right.

You can see more pics of Shatter in action on Makeup Stash and Evonnz!

  2. I think it depends on your own comfort level and how casual your work environment is.

  3. Hi Iris, that's a nice silvery nail colour! :) Does it appear duo-chrome? It seems that it is duo-chrome in the bottle.....

  4. Hi how do you apply shatter as I try it at the counters and it apply quite thick and has one gloop when i took out the brush?

  6. Hi,
I just apply one coat over half of the nail, and another over the other half of the nail, except for my little finger which the brush can cover in one stroke. You can tap off a bit of the excess against the bottle rim before applying but if you tap off too much, the shater effect comesout as very small flakes/dots so you need the brush to be quite well-coated.

    Hey mag,
Yes, let's try to use up more of our respective stashes this year!

    Hi lynn,
Yes, there is a duochrome effect.

  8. Thanks! But I ended up trimming them because I just don't like it when stuff gets caught under my nails ;-p

  9. Hi Iris,

    Your nails ROCK!!! ^_^

Was showing your pics to my colleague in office just now. We wonder if this effect will look nice as pedicure =D

  10. Thanks, AhCapp! I think the shatter effect looks better on the fingers just because the fingernails are usually larger in area and show off the shatter effect better.

  11. Ahhh so lucky you guys have the Katy Perry collection available now. Sadly, we haven't received it here in the States. Hopefully I can get my hands on it before they sell out! Anyway, thanks for the swatches!

  12. Mine are all BOTAK - that's how they usually look when I've had exams or something. Growing them out now; I loved Black Shatter over a bright sparkly gold (from the Burlesque collxn!)
