Back in December, Too Faced was offering some excellent deals on their website. Thanks to Kas, I was able to ride on her VPost order for this Eye Want It All set. It's a pretty amazing deal because for US$95, it includes the Smoky Eye Palette, the Natural Eye Kit, the Naked Eye Kit, the Lash Injection Extreme Thickening & Lengthening Mascara, Lash Injection Pinpoint Extreme Defining, Volume & Lengthening Mascara, Shadow Insurance (eyeshadow primer) and Liquid Lava Gloss Super Black Eyeliner. All the products are full size and have a combined retail value of US$181.50.
I also picked up Moon Beam Baked Eyeshadow, which was 50% off at just US$9.75. The Pixie makeup pouch was a gift with purchase. Of the three palettes, the Sephora store in Ion currently only has the Smoky Eye Palette, which is selling at S$64. The mascaras cost around S$31 while Shadow Insurance is S$28 at Sephora Ion. Even after factoring in the S$20 that I paid for postage, I still 'saved' much more compared to if I were to purchase the products individually here. Below is the Natural Eye Kit.
Slotted inside the lid of each palette are three cards with instructions for how to create different looks. The Natural and Naked Eye Kits come with one double-ended applicator while the Smoky Eye Palette comes with two applicators. All three have a good mix of mattes, pearl and more shimmery textures.
Below is the look that I did today with the Naked Eye Palette. This is definitely a palette for taupe and neutral lovers. I used Pink Cheeks as a wash over the browbone area, Lap Dance from the inner corners to the middle of the lid, Unmentionables from the middle of the lid to the outer corners, Like A Virgin just above the crease and Satin Sheets at the inner corners and along the lower lashline.
Despite the name of the palette, the shades actually contrast nicely against one another and do not appear washed out when applied.
Unlike the other two palettes, the eyeshadows in the Smoky Eye Palette do not have individual names.
Here's a look that I did with the green, blue and black (bottom right corner) shades of the Smoky Eye Palette. The eyeshadows are not as intensely pigmented as Sleek and required more layering. There was quite a bit of fallout with the black shade during the application process.
Compared to Too Faced's earlier Quickie Chronicles line of palettes, I think the Eye Kits are definitely an improvement. The packaging is more elegant (without the vintage pinup girls illustrations) and you get a generous selection of 9 powder eyeshadows whereas the Quickie Chronicles were likely to get messier as they often had eyeshadows, lip colours and blushes in one palette.
Too Faced has just released a Romantic Eye Collection as part of their new spring collection. It is slightly slimmer as they did away with the tray that holds the applicators. Do check it out!

Thanks for your review. I am tempted by the smokey eye palette because of the two big pans of all over beige shades. Not so sure about the accent shades, though; they look sheer on you. Might use the Sephora voucher on it instead of the UD Black Palette. Will think about it!
ReplyDeleteWow, great haul! Love the makeup bag, bet it makes a lovely addition to your collection. How I wish I was able to snag one for myself. :D
