Urban Decay Makeover by Clarence Lee

Yesterday, I went to Sephora Ion for the Urban Decay makeover by Clarence Lee, who is one of Singapore's top makeup artists whose work has been featured on countless magazine covers. As mentioned earlier, customers who purchased the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil 15th Anniversary set and one more UD product got to have a makeover by Clarence yesterday. I had met him previously at the Cosme Decorte workshop and so was extremely thrilled to have the chance to have my makeup done by him.

UD's Black Palette looked intriguing so I requested a smoky eye look with it. Clarence used the Mildew and Perversion Eye Pencils as the base before applying Libertine and Sabbath from the Black Palette. Perversion Eye Pencil is one of Clarence's favourites in the 15th Anniversary set. It is an intensely rich, matte black shade that is new and exclusive to the set.

He also used Mildew eyeshadow (shimmery green) from the Ammo palette in the middle of the upper eyelid and Sin at the inner corners of the lower lid. For the lashes, he used Big Fatty Waterproof Mascara first followed by Skyscraper Mascara to add volume.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience as Clarence has a very kind and gentle presence that puts one immediately at ease.

It was also a pleasant surprise that I got to take home these two Polaroids, courtesy of Sephora!

  2. Hi Iris

I really like this smoky eye look a lot :) very sophiscated!

can I ask if this newly launched eye pencil different from the previous one? Is this the one which you can use as an eyeshadow while the previous one as eyeliner?

  3. Hi Kat,
I loved the look so much! His blending was just impeccable and I really loved the smoky gradation that he created with the various shades.

    Hey AhCapp,
Thank you! The eye pencils are not new. The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils have been around for quite awhile now, except that the 15th Anniversary set includes 6 new shades created just for this set. The eye pencils can be used as eye shadow too. After you apply it, you can smudge it and blend it, before it sets.

  8. hi Adeline,
Thanks for the info and the feedback! I also just saw that set being advertised in the current issue of Her World. It makes me very happy to hear from readers that they enjoy the blog :-)

    hi Sun,
I wouldn't film a makeup artist unless he expressly gives consent, and I think that very few would be comfortable being filmed. Clarence does workshops for various makeup brands in Singapore quite frequently so if you want to see him in action, just keep a lookout for future workshops like these. There are also tons of detailed makeup application tutorials on Youtube that are useful for learning how to apply makeup.

  9. Hey Iris,

I love the smokey look! I also love using the UD pencils as an eyeshadow base when I don't have a cream shade that matches the colours I am wearing! I got a friend to pick this up for me in the US as the Canadian price is over 20$ higher (plus she used a coupon for me) and I can't wait to play with the pencils! I'm probably going to pass on the black palette though - I don't wear enough smokey looks!

  10. Hey Justine,
I haven't used the eye pencils as bases before so I definitely need to experiment with that more! The set is quite expensive so it's great that you got a deal on it. With this set, I really don't need to buy any more eyeliners for a long time to come. The Black Palette looks gorgeous, but I think ultimately I already have similar shades in my stash so I can probably pass on it.

  15. Hi Haru!

I love the look on you. You looks so pretty and feminine with the smoky eyes. And your skin in this LOTD, in my opinion is the best. May I know what products you use for the face in this LOTD?
