Wet n Wild released six new Coloricon 3-pan palettes recently. As these are super cheap at just US$2.99 each, I initially picked up four of the six in CVS but in the end, I put three back on the display and left with just I Dream of Greenie as I'm seriously running out of space for my makeup.

I Dream of Greenie is a vibrant fresh trio of greens that I thought would be fun to play around with. The eyeshadow pans are embossed with the recommended area of application, which is a nice user-friendly touch.

Using Pixi Lustrous Eye Primer as the base, I used the included brush (thankfully not too scratchy) to apply the pale mint shade over the browbone area, and the sponge applicator to apply the medium green shade in the crease and the lime shade along the upper lashline. Along the lower lashline, I used a combination of the pale mint and the medium green shade, with L'Oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner #915 Silver Lightning along the waterline and the inner corners. I also used Shiseido Automatic Fine Eyeliner along the upper lashline and Visee Lash Wide Impact (Curl Long) mascara.

The Shrek-like lime shade is probably the most difficult to pull off and it's not something that I would wear for work. I do like the pale mint and medium green shades though. The eyeshadows kick up a fair bit of powder but there wasn't any fallout during the application process. The shades all have great blendability and apply very smoothly with good colour payoff.

For this look, I'm using a few new purchases from my recent US trip: Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup 010 Ivory over Anna Sui Protective Foundation Primer C #200, Physicians Formula Happy Booster in Rose, and Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain in Skeletrina. The Rose Happy Booster and Skeletrina lip balm are instant loves for me while the Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup (a loose face powder that feels cool upon application, like Prescriptives' famous Magic) is just average.

The only palette in my stash that is similar to I Dream of Greenie is Lunasol Sheer Contrast Eyes #4 Green Coral. The shades are not exact dupes but it's a similar combination. The Lunasol eyeshadows are more shimmery and sheer compared to the Wet n Wild eyeshadows.

If you have tried Wet n Wild's Coloricon palettes, do let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Wet n Wild has been garnering tons of positive reviews over the past year with the introduction of its Coloricon eyeshadow palettes. Not only are these super affordable, the color payoff is surprisingly intense, on par with Sleek. These are available in 3 pan, 6 pan and 8 pan versions.

The 6 pan palettes are composed of 3 matte and 3 shimmery shades. I picked up this Lust palette on a trip to New York last year. Some of the shades look very similar to MAC shades, like Yogurt (light pink-toned beige), Sketch (dark purple) and Beauty Marked (black with red shimmer).

Using Pixi Lustrous Eye Primer as the base, I applied the the shimmery black shade along the upper lashline, the shimmery gunmetal grey in the crease, the purple shade blended lightly just above the crease and the light beige shade over the browbone area. Along the lower lashline, I used the purple and the grey shades.

The texture of the eyeshadows remind me very much of Sleek. The darker shades tend to cause quite a bit of fallout during application. The powder is so intensely pigmented that trying to wipe away the fallout with tissue often means smearing the powder across the under-eye area or cheeks instead. The fallout is messy to deal with, so I avoid doing my base makeup (i.e. primer and foundation) before my eyes. Having said that, the eyeshadows do last extremely well over many hours of wear without any fallout (unlike some of Lunasol's or Jill Stuart's eyeshadows that rain shimmer particles on one's cheeks over the course of the day).

The rich intensity of the shades also means that I spend more time trying to blend them out, whereas with other brands, it's the opposite with more effort being expended on trying to layer the shades up to the desired intensity.

The other products used are Lancome Maqui Miracle Compact O-01, Anna Sui Protective Foundation Primer C #200, Clinique Lash Power Volumising Mascara, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 02, MAC Wicked Ways Lipglass, Lunasol Coloring Cheeks #8 Medium Red and UNE Skin-echo Concealer E01.

Here's a second look where I applied the purple shade over the inner half of the lid, the matte dark purple shade over the outer half of the lid, the grey shade in the crease and the light beige shade over the browbone area.

I did this look several weeks ago so I can't remember the other products that were used. The silver shade along the lower lashline is probably L'Oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner #915 Silver Lightning, which is fabulous. Overall, it's easy to see why the Coloricon palettes have been so crazily popular, with some going on Ebay for several times the retail price. Lust is a great palette for doing dramatic smoky eyes and it's so easy on the pocket at around US$5. Nonpareil Boutique carries Wet n Wild and ships internationally. Like Sleek, Wet n Wild's eyeshadow palettes are made in China. Tracy's Beauty Blogsophere has also reviewed Lust.

List of ingredients.

A few readers asked about what I had purchased during my recent trip so here are the pics!

Several of these are actually purchases for friends, like the Tokidoki Robbery palette, the Wet'n'Wild and Physicians Formula Shimmer Strip palettes on the left side of the pic. I've already reviewed some of these, like the Magie Deco, Anna Sui and Addiction items, so I won't elaborate on them in this post.

Sephora happened to be having its 20% VIB discount during my trip so I took the chance to haul Philosophy shower gels. This prettily packaged Peppermint Bark Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath was an absolute steal at just US$5 with any Philosophy purchase at Sephora.

Philosophy Glow & Behold Celestial Citrus Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath.

The Melting Marshmallow set with a Body Lotion, lipgloss and Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath.

Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment

At Saks 5th Avenue, I picked up the Giorgio Armani travel brush set. Priced at US$100, it is supposed to have a retail value of US$200.

It includes an eye contour brush, a concealer brush, an eye shader brush, a blender brush and a blush brush.

Another new brush is Stila's #33 One Step Complexion Brush. According to the description on Sephora, one side beautifully blends liquid, creams, and powder foundation into your skin, while the other delivers precision concealing for a perfected, polished complexion. The synthetic bristles are shaped to imitate application with your fingertips, but are firmer and more flexible for quicker, easier makeup application. The tapered brush tip can burrow into tiny, hard-to-reach crevices and the synthetic bristles eliminate the transfer of oils and bacteria. It can also be used to apply eyeshadow and cheek color.

At the drugstore, I bought a clutch of L'Oreal HIP eyeshadows. Some are permanent shades while the others are from the new Midnight Muse collection. I tried to pick the duos with more complex colours.

Sally Hansen HD Nail Color in DVD and Wet'n'Wild ColorIcon Nail Color in Prowler.

In Japan, I picked up this newly released Shiseido #131 Foundation Brush, which can be used with powder, liquid, cream and stick foundations. The normal retail price is 1890yen but I got it at 30% off at a drugstore.
