Sightings at ALT @ Heeren

Took a stroll around ALT at Heeren yesterday and to my surprise, the OPI Katy Perry collection was already on display. According to Icefrost's blog, the collection is also out at Robinsons Raffles City but several shades including Black Shatter are already out of stock. The nail polishes retail for S$23.50 each. Black Shatter is also out of stock at ALT but the other shades are available.

I applied a quick coat of Black Shatter over my MAC Bad Fairy nail polish and was impressed by how quickly the shatter effect showed up. It's better to layer on the liquid thickly so that the shatter bits are more chunky, like on the left half of my nail.

The number of beauty brands available at ALT is simply dazzling and feels too overwhelming to absorb. This line of mascaras and liquid eyeliner looked quite interesting, shall consider purchasing it after I've used up my current eyeliner.

Another Japanese skincare brand centred around hyaluronic acid.

A cooling makeup base.

Anti-knee aging scrub cream, anyone?

Geranium Massage Salt Body Soap

Some of the brands are currently on 20% discount.

ALT also carries an interesting array of Sanrio goods, stationery and clothes. On the ground floor, you can also find Pupa, Paul & Joe, Lotree, Make Up For Ever, I Nuovi, Ettusais etc. The Pupa counter has an interesting array of makeup kits including the Kokeshi dolls, Butterfly World palettes and Puposka collection.

Elle Hong Kong & Sentimental Circus

Dropped by Kinokuniya earlier today to pick up the January issue of Elle Hong Kong (S$12.84) as it comes with an unusual freebie - a pair of knitted arm warmers!

The arm warmers are available in grey and black. When I was at the Ngee Ann City store around 3pm, there was only one copy with the black warmers left and about 3 copies with the grey warmers.

There is no brand on these, but I thought they would come in useful not only during winter holidays but also in my office which can get quite chilly.

The hole in the side for the thumb.

These do feel quite warm and comfy, plus they cover all the way to my elbow while leaving my fingers free to type.

Over at the stationery section, I came across this new character range called "Sentimental Circus" by San-x. I've never seen this character before so it could be a one-off collection.

The reverse side of the plastic folder.

Love the whimsical illustrations!

The spiral notebook is available in two designs.

The mini memo pads each contain two designs.

Got the eraser as well!

Estee Lauder, Anna Sui, Dior and Bourjois sightings

Estee Lauder is offering a very attractive GWP promotion from now until 23 January. With purchase of S$160, you get a cosmetic bag, a mini mascara and your choice of a serum, moisturiser, cheek and eye palette, lipstick and lipgloss. The cheek and eye palette contains 8 powder eyeshadows, one powder blush and a brush. You can get receive a matching tote if you spend S$200 and an additional lip palette with 7 shades if you spend S$250.

The GWP promotion is available at all Estee Lauder counters. The shades look universally flattering and easy to wear.

I was looking forward to checking out the Anna Sui spring makeup collection but it has not arrived yet. This is the current gift with purchase of S$180 at the Isetan Scotts counter.

As usual, Dior is the earliest to release its spring makeup collection, which is already on display at Takashimaya and Robinsons. Chanel is usually quite early too but its spring collection is not out yet. The Dior quint #034 Gris Gris is S$90 while the Cannage Palettes (with four powder eyeshadows) are S$94. The top row in the pic below is #034 Gris Gris while the bottom row is the grey-theme Cannage Palette (except for the shade that is second from the right in the bottom row). The eyeshadows in the Cannage Palette appear to have a more uniform and velvety texture than the quint.

At Robinsons in Centrepoint, the newly reformulated Bourjois Little Round Pot Eyeshadows are now available. These are retailing at S$19 each and you can get them at 20% discount now at Robinsons which is having a 20% discount on toiletries and healthcare products. The eyeshadows are supposed to have a silkier finish, contain up to 80% mineral pigments and are free of parabens and fragrance. There is a lovely blackened green shade in the collection (fifth from the left in the top row). These swatched much more smoothly over a primer whereas on bare skin, they came off a bit patchy. You can also view the shades on the Bourjois UK website.

The new Bio Detox foundation.

Time to start saving up? :-)

Tokidoki for Singpost

While I was overseas, Mag (Makeup Stash) also very kindly helped me to snag this extremely limited edition SingPost Tokidoki Mystamp collection. This has probably already sold out at all local post offices. Mag's post office only received 5 sets, and she got the last two. I'm really thankful for friends like Mag who go out of their way to help me like that!

The collection consists of a a Jigsaw Puzzle Set and a Notebook Set. Only 2000 units of each set were produced, with each set retailing for S$39.90. You can view the official press release here.

The 500-piece jigsaw puzzle comes in an adorable metal lunch box with an A5-sized sheet of six stamps.

Tokidoki creator Simone Legno created two characters exclusively for this collection. It's the character holding the mail and dressed in a superhero outfit with his dog! The lion with the fish tail is modelled after the Merlion, an icon of Singapore. Some famous streets in Singapore like Orchard Road are also named in the scene.

It's been a long time since I completed a jigsaw puzzle, but I used to love doing these. Well, except for the time that I completed a massive one only to find a piece missing. Quite thoughtfully, the Singpost set includes instructions for how to obtain any missing pieces.

The Notebook Set comes with an A5-sized sheet of six stamps and a notebook with a folder.

The folder is very well-padded and features a massively crowded scene of Tokidoki characters.

Love the cheery bright red interior of the folder!

Many thanks and big hugs again to Mag!

Samantha Thavasa Launch Party

Back in November, I was invited to the Samantha Thavasa launch party for their new store in Ion Orchard. I was unable to attend as I was away in New Delhi but Mag (Makeupstash.com) and Kas (Shine, Shimmer & Sparkle) went and kept me updated almost instantaneously through the wonder of Twitter.

The party kicked off with a fashion show.

You can see many more photos of the party on Samantha Thavasa's Facebook page.

After the show, the guests adjourned to the new store (located on Level B1 of Ion).

I was ecstatic to see that they had brought in the Liberty range, including the latest Liberty x Hello Kitty collection!

Founded in 1994, the Samantha Thavasa brand is famous in Japan for its collaborations with foreign celebrities like Penelope Cruz, Victoria Beckham, Tinsley Mortimer, Beyonce and the Hilton sisters. Top Japanese models Yuri Ebihara and Jessica Michibata are the current faces of the brand.

The prices range from S$70 to S$300 for charms and small leather goods, and from S$300 to S$500 for bags. According to Herworld.com, the Hello Kitty bag costs S$469. The Petite Choice Liberty Boston bag that I purchased in Osaka is selling here for about S$285, if I recall correctly. I had paid S$255 for it in Osaka.

Mag also kindly gave me her doorgift of a Samantha Thavasa Petite Choice charm and notebook from the party!

Many thanks to Mag for the gifts and pics!
