Ebates and Ibotta

Since jumping from a family of 3 to a family of 5, I try to look for cost savings wherever we can. Couponing has become a way of life here in the US, and it's rare that we have to pay full retail price for anything as there's almost always a discount or a promo code to be found. Kids' clothes are much more affordable here compared to Singapore as there is almost always at least 40% off at Gymboree, Kohls, Gap, Old Navy, Carter's and OshKosh B'Gosh. During sale clearance events, the discounts can be easily 70% or even more. (By the way, Gymboree has just started shipping worldwide.)

Aside from joining the usual rewards programmes for individual stores/brands, my two favourite money-saving apps are Ebates and Ibotta. Ebates gives cashback rebates at hundreds of merchants, including Sephora (which is at double rebate now of 8%) and Ulta (3%) plus several major department stores such as Nordstrom and Macys. Ibotta gives cashback for groceries (e.g. any brand of milk/bread/eggs/bananas) and other household products like diapers and wipes at retailers such as Walmart, Target and Walgreens. The rebates typically range from 50 cents to a couple of dollars, but these do add up quickly especially for household staples that are frequently repurchased. Ibotta also offers various ways to earn bonuses by redeeming certain combinations of rebates, or by combining the rebates you've redeemed with those of your team of friends.

If you're interested, you can use my referral link/code below for a $10 credit at Ebates and Ibotta. Ibotta is only applicable to US residents while Ebates works for those living outside the US as long as the store where you are making the purchase ships to your country.

I've also been trying out Checkout51. Its selection of rebates is much smaller compared to Ibotta but you can actually submit the same receipt to both Checkout51 and Ibotta for double rebates. Right now, Checkout51 is offering a $5 signup bonus. This is applicable only to US residents.

Two superbly useful sites for US-based couponers are Krazy Coupon Lady and Coupon Caroline.
