Makeup Storage

Inspired by these Biteki pics of a Paul & Joe PR manager's stash, I re-organised my Paul & Joe collection into the same Muji Lucite 5-drawer chest. The white plastic chests below are also from Muji and hold the bulk of my makeup collection.

On the right side are my Paul & Joe and Rebecca Taylor pouches from Spring magazine. The black brush holder is by Anna Sui. I wish Paul & Joe or Jill Stuart would also produce a more extensive makeup accessories line like Anna Sui as I'm sure they would be huge successes.

The top tray holds the limited edition Collection Sparkles face colors and lipsticks, Eye Glosses, Face Colors and eyeshadows. I wish I had started collecting the Collection Sparkles much earlier as they are so pretty to look at as a group but I resisted for the longest time as the eyeshadow shades, which tended towards the pale pastel variety, were not that appealing to me.

The second tier holds Paul & Joe face powders, Estee Lauder Fleur de Lys shimmer powder, Clinique Quick Blushes, Maquillage and Kate gel liners.

The two lower tiers hold some of my MAC Mineralize Skinfinishes and eyeshadows while the middle tier (not pictured) holds my Becca Pressed Shimmer Powders.

My makeup storage area is usually in much more of a mess with stuff strewn all over but I do try to tidy it up regularly as I don't like dust gathering near my makeup and brushes.

Hope you've enjoyed this look at my collection!

That's a lovely collection :) Paul & Joe is one of my favourite lines too.

May I ask how much is the Muji lucite drawer chest? I've been on the hunt for a suitable makeup storage option and thought it looks perfect!

Thank you :)

Hi,

I got the Muji chests (both the clear acrylic and white plastic ones) in Tokyo when I was living there a few years ago. I'm not sure if the clear acrylic one is available in Singapore but I bought my 2nd white plastic chest at the Muji store in Paragon last year. The white plastic chest is 2999yen in Japan , so in Singapore should be close to S$50? The clear acrylic chest is 2000yen in Japan, so if it's available in Singapore, probably around S$30+?

Everything's so organized! I LOVE IT! I will have to see if there's anything close to those storage containers here in the States.

Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Sunny

P.S. I am lovin' your P&J collection!

This is so pretty and cute! I love your collection & the chests are so nice. I wish I had more than my little drawer to store everything in, lol, but when I finally get a bigger place, I know how I'm organizing my stuff!

wooo gorgeous
i have the same lucite chests [4 of them] and 3 of the ones with just 2 drawers

the white plastic ones look good too! i should check them out when i return to tokyo

btw can i ask...if paul and joe cheaper in singapore than tokyo?

Haru said...

Hi Yumeko,

Paul & Joe is cheaper in Singapore now as the yen is quite high. But the price differences vary for individual products. The lipsticks are 3150yen in Japan but in Singapore, they are S$30+ (about 2500yen). The loose face powders are 6300yen in Japan versus S$70+ (about 5000yen) in Singapore.

Yesterday, Liang Court Kino was having a 20% sales for their 9th anniversary. I saw a Cecil McBee mook costing SGD22.40 with a tote bag. Seventeen & Mini magazines are also out.

Muji was having a 10% off storewide from 1-3 May 09. Anyone take this opportunity to buy the lucite drawer chest?

wow...your make up collection is amazing!!! Do you actually use all of them?

Dear Sormui,

I re-organise my stash every few months and throw out expired stuff and also to pick out stuff that I've been neglecting. Once I had organised my stash into the Muji chests, it was quite easy to keep it neat as when I buy a new item, there's usually a natural compartment for it to go into (like with other items from the same brand). Then if I run out of space, I try to see how I can pare my collection by discarding really old stuff.

My collection is too big for me to ever use up every item, but I do try to use every item I buy at least a few times.

I've always wanted to get something like yours but I have no luck with such things :(

There are plenty around but they just don't look attractive to me (may be I'm too picky ;)), and most of them are plastics making them very fragile and can't hold much.

I am really really in need of several drawers like yours. In Malaysia??? Mehh......

Eggs bugged out! Wow! Especially the P&J and MAC stuff ... wow!

Next time you re-organise your stash, could you please do not discard your stuff (even the expired stuff) & instead email me at suryanijan@yahoo.co.uk so I can buy them off you? Eh, don't worry I am not crazy (well, not too crazy anyway) - there's a reason why. Thanks so much.

Oh, also wanted to tell you thanks for giving such updated & detailed reviews, info of the makeup available in Singapore. I hate shopping and blogs like yours, Mag's & Kimoko really help me indulge my makeup obsession without pain. :)

Haru! I Love your Paul & Joe collections! Yet, it's very difficult to find it here in KL, Msia... also like your Muji chest..kinda cute!

Haru said...

hi Lill,
I thought Paul & Joe has three counters in KL? At Isetan Lot 10, Parkson KLCC and Parkson Subang Parade. I'm a huge fan of Paul & Joe, can never seem to resist their new limited edition collections!

OMG HARU YOUR CASES ARE SO PRETTY!

Sorry for the caps but really, I couldn't help myself!!! >____<

Now I feel ashamed of my storage options as I basically use two built-in drawers and just put everything flat. Though maybe I should get one for my nail polishes, they are just lying there on my table :S

Any recommendations for nail polishes? The standard OPI / CHINA GLAZE / Heh, thanks Haru!

Haru said...

hi Jolyn,
Perhaps you can check out Muji as they have chests in various shapes and sizes? I store all my nailpolishes in my cupboard without any special container, but I don't have that many nail polishes (less than 30).
