Essence Snow Jam

The new Snow Jam Trend Edition from Essence has arrived in stores in Switzerland. Much of the display was already swept clean by the time I came across it. The nailpolishes in the display are from the regular range (the four Snow Jam polishes have the name of the collection printed on the bottles).

Are you into skiing, snowboarding or taking a ride in a sleigh? With the new trend edition “snow jam”, essence fires-up all snow beauties in January and February 2013 – let’s head for the slopes! sports, casual styles and evening après-ski parties are sure to put us in the mood for wintertime! The colors of the “snow jam” trend edition look great with trendy ski and snowboard outfits: the combination of bright purple, turquoise and petrol as well as frosty pastel shades creates a cool make-up look and a great mood is guaranteed all round! The products in this trend edition skillfully unite wintery colors with valuable ingredients.

The vibrant color combinations are the most appealing of recent Essence collections, so naturally I came home with a few of the products.

Of the three Eyeshadow Sorbets (CHF3.75), I picked up 02 Top Of The Ice-Stream (icy bluish white) and 03 Life Is A Freeride (shimmery aquamarine with silver shimmer).

Made in Germany, these have a creamy texture and glide easily onto the skin without any tugging. Both shades can be built up easily for a more intense finish. They set to what appears to be a budgeproof powder finish, as they do not smear when I run my finger over the swatches. Life Is A Freeride is a gorgeous jewel aquamarine.

I also snagged both Jumbo Eye Pencils (CHF3.50) in 01 Let's Hit The Slope and 02 Petrol Snow-Queen. One end is a kajal eyeliner pencil while the other end is a shimmery highlighter with a fatter tip.

Made in Italy, both pencils performed quite well when swatched. The highlighter end feels softer and more creamy than the kajal liner end. The highlighter shades have a soft pearlish finish that is quite subtle and understated.

Below are swatches of the Jumbo Eye Pencils and Eyeshadow Sorbets.

The Mini Files (CHF1.95) is a travel-friendly box of 8 mini nail files. Love the cheery winter-themed patterns printed on these!

So these were my first beauty purchases of 2013! What's great about Essence is that it allows you to try out new seasonal shades for virtually a song. The five products came up to less than the price of a MAC lipstick.
