Dior Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation

Dior recently launched a new Diorskin Forever Fluid Foundation and Compact Foundation with a campaign fronted by Natalie Portman. I purchased both to try after hitting pan on a couple of my powder foundations.

The name can be somewhat confusing as there is an earlier Dior foundation with a similar name, "DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear". The new version bears the description "Fusion Wear Makeup" instead of "Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup". It has SPF25 PA+++ and is made in France.

The heavy frosted glass bottle is typical Dior packaging and not travel-friendly. The pump dispenses just a tiny bit more than what I need for one application, if I am applying it with my fingertips. If you use a foundation brush or sponge, you will probably need more than one pump.

The foundation is supposed to provide a flawless, ultra-smooth finish, thanks to a Skincare Essence that delivers mattifying and hydrating ingredients to where they are specifically needed.

My shade is 020 Light Beige, which is the second lightest shade available and just right for my skintone. The foundation has a light cream texture that is quite easy to apply and blend for the most part. However, on areas with enlarged pores and post-acne scars, I find that it takes quite a bit more work and doesn't meld over them as easily as some other foundations I've tried. I'll need to experiment applying it with brushes or a damp sponge to see if that improves the finish, as so far, I've only been applying with my fingertips.

I liked the soft natural finish as it's not overly matte or mask-like. It provides up to medium coverage and makes my skin look more even-toned and healthier, but not dewy. While Dior claims that it will help mattify the skin where needed, it was still my nose that started to get shiny after about two hours of wear. On average, I had to blot about every two hours with this but after blotting, the foundation still looks pretty good and I didn't notice any oxidisation after several hours of wear.

Overall, I think this would suit ladies with normal to oily skin types who are looking for a long-lasting foundation that doesn't feel heavy on the skin. However, if you have a lot of skin unevenness due to enlarged pores, it's best to try to get a sample of this first or ask the SA to apply it on you before deciding whether to invest in it.

For this look, I also used the Sleek Monaco palette and Lancome Color Fever Gloss in On Fire.

List of ingredients.

Hi Haru,

Appreciate if you could post before and after base makeup pics because it will help to see the effect of the base. Thanks!

I use the Extreme Wear Flawless Make Up version and it sounds very similar! Is the lasting power/anti-transfer good on the new formula? I wonder if the old one is being discontinued :(

Glad they changed the formula - the old one was very heavy. I need melt resistant makeup for Muscat, so I need to check this out! Your skin looks very nice in this foundation - and I love the lip gloss!

Hi espenine,
I'm not comfortable posting pics of my naked skin, so I've never done that on the blog.

Hi Yu,
I've nevr tried the old formula, so I don't know how it compares to the new DiorSkin Forever. The new Diorskin Forever doesn't streak or transfer on me, after it sets although I do need to blot after a few hours as my skin gets oily, especially in hot weather.

Hi Jamilla,
Thanks! That's one of my favourite lipglosses at the moment.

Thanks so much for this review! I'm so curious about Dior products and whether they are worth the price.

I like Dior Forever Liquid foundation. I was under the sun & my makeup didn't melt! I think it is pretty good oil control for me :)

Thanks for the review :-) I've been eyeing this foundation ever since it was released. I have the old version and as Jamilla said it can look heavy. I like to apply it with a beauty blender, it really sheers out the finish and provides a more dewy finish.

May I know the price you paid for both lovelies? Am interested to purchase thanks.

hi,
I purchased the Dior foundations in France where the fluid foundation is 41€ (about S$70) and the compact powder foundation is 49.50€ (about S$85). I don't know the prices in Singapore but my guess is that the fluid foundation will retail for more that S$80 as the DiorSnow BB Creme is S$79.

I think it's retailing at $65 in SG.

I love the Dior Extreme Wear foundation. The problem is that I have to mix 31 and 21 together to get a perfect match. I'm gonna try the new version in 31 and hopefully, it won't be too dark.

Have you tried photographing with this foundation? Does it leave a white cast when used with flash especially at night?

hi,
I don't usually take photos with flash, so I don't know if this leaves a white cast.

Thanks for the reply! May I also know which is the best foundation that you've come across for covering up acne scars? Like, something with medium coverage? :)

Hi Haru! Which would you say you prefer, this or the Bourjois Healthy Mix? I'm not quite sure which I want to invest in, the Bourjois one is obviously more wallet friendly haha...

Hi,
I prefer the Bourjois Healthy Mix for days when I don't need much coverage or I'm in a rush as it's very easy to apply and blend. The Dior foundation isn't bad but I doubt I will re-purchase it after finishing it as I don't find it to be extraordinary.

Hi Haru, love all your blogposts. Always really useful and informative! Would you say this is a pretty decent everyday work foundation for someone with normal-oily skin? I'm just a little worried about it oxidising throughout the day. I'm a Chanel 20 Clair and Giorgio Armani LSF 5. Thanks :)

hi dee,
Yes, I think it is suitable for every day wear for normal-oily skin, but as foundations can be very subjective, I recommend going to the counter to get it tested on your skin to see how it matches and whether it oxidises on you. I didn't notice any oxidisation on my skin.
