RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes Review

During my last trip to Selfridges in London, I picked up two of the new RMK Deep Iridescent Eyes (£26) and a Creamy Sheer Powder Cheeks 03 Coral Orange (£26) from the fall collection, Deep Iridescence.

The limited edition Deep Iridescent Eyes are formulated with polarised pearlescent particles. According to the product description, the darker shade delivers a lucent black tone ideal for the base shade whilst the light tone magnifies the characteristic of black for a deep, impactful finish. 04 Deep Purple features a smoky purple paired with a pale icy lavender.

Many of RMK's earlier eyeshadows tend to be ultra sheer so I was pleasantly surprised that the Deep Iridescent Eyes were easy to build up to a gentle smoky finish with a soft shimmer. The eyeshadow also have an exceptionally velvety texture that is very easy to pick up with the included applicator. The pic above was taken under normal room lighting conditions while the pic below was taken under a spotlight so the sparkles show up more vividly.

The shimmer is very fine, so it doesn't look like obvious chunky glitter. The two purple shades are also understated enough to wear during the day. The translucent quality prized by Japanese beauty brands is very much evident here.

Used with a good primer like Too Faced Shadow Insurance, the eyeshadows lasted pretty well throughout the day although they did look a touch duskier at the end of the day. There was a bit of fallout throughing the application process but this was easily remedied.

06 Deep Green contains a blackened green and a medium green.

Like Deep Purple, the combination is actually very easy to wear as the shades are not too crazily pigmented or loud. The refined shimmer provides a subtle sparkle that isn't too distracting. Creating a gradational look with just one of these duos couldn't be simpler. Just add eyeliner and mascara, and you're pretty much done.

Creamy Sheer Powder Cheeks are a new addition to the permanent range. Each consists of a tone-correcting cream and a vibrant powder blush to be layered on top. 03 Coral Orange includes a pale yellow cream shade and a rosy coral. Both are extremely smooth to touch and used together, they give the cheeks a smooth glowy pop of colour.

The brushes included in both the Deep Iridescent Eyes and Creamy Sheer Powder Cheeks are excellent, with zero scratchiness. Being RMK, these are on the pricey side but the luxurious product quality and ultra sleek packaging make them well worth the price tag. RMK is available on BeautyBay.com which ships internationally for free.

hi Tracy,
I totally agree, and it seems to make the skin surface look smoother too!

Haru, both look great on you but I must say I like the purple one best.
