LeSportSac Mooks Cases 2010 vs 2009

Went back to Kinokuniya today to exchange the LeSportsac mook multi-case today. Fortunately, the Kino staff were very understanding and opened up another copy on the spot for me to see that the case was ok. In case you're wondering how the 2010 case compares to the 2009 version, the 2010 case is slightly longer, wider and thicker. The 2009 case shown below is the Beauty Girl print which was also exclusive to Japan.

According to one of the articles in the 2010 mook, the Avenue print was voted by Japanese customers in the Omotesando flagship store in March 2009 as their favourite print of all time. Hence, the company decided to bring it back for the 35th anniversary.

The zips on the 2010 case are also bigger. The inner compartments of the 2010 case also feel sturdier, especially the centre zip compartment.

Overall, I still think that the 2010 mooks are well worth getting, if you like the prints as the price is very affordable. However, quality control seems to be a much bigger issue this year as two readers also reported defects with their cases whereas I don't recall there being such problems with the 2009 mooks. So if you do decide to purchase them, do a check on the spot to ensure that your case has no defects.

hi,
Yup, was there early :) I didn't get the Harper's Bazaar, bought too many magazines this month already plus I have tons of shampoos as it is. The 35th Avenue mix of colours probably doesn't appeal to many people whereas black is easier for most people to carry.

I got the 35th Avenue today. I didnt fancy the hot pink combination with the blue polka dots. My first choice originally was black glitter, except that I dont like it being laminated. Anyone knows if it feels like PVC? There were no samples at NAC for me to feel out the materials. =(

hi,
I think you should go back to the branch where you purchased the mook to do the exchange.

hi Beautyontheway,
Kino does not allow reservations for the LeSportSac mooks, even though the stocks have arrived, so you have to go to the stores to purchase them. Don't wait too long!

hi ES,
Glad you had a good time shopping in Tokyo! I lived there for a few years, which was when I fell in love with Japanese beauty products. I've been using the Steam Cream as a body moisturiser almost ever day since my trip. I don't know the brand Cache.

Haha, thanks haru. I happened to be at Bugis when I read ur reply, and quickly went to kino and got the same mooks as yours. Checked the quality after payment, it looks ok except a bit dirty inside, but doesn't matter, should be easy to clean it. Thanks for ur info.

I haven't got mine yet. Quality defects? I guess I'll have to consider before buying then.

Hi Haru!

I just want to chime in - for all your Aussie blog readers, Sydney's Kinokuniya is getting their shipment of the 2010 LeSportSac Mooks on Tuesday 20/04/2010. They'll retail for AUD27 and if you live outside of Sydney, they'll happily send it out your way for AUD13 (I think).

The number to call them on is 02 9262 7996.
