The Body Shop recently introduced their first BB Cream as part of their Moisture White line. The Shiso BB Cream (S$32.90, 30ml) boasts SPF25 PA+++ and is suitable for all skin types with beneficial ingredients like shiso, Vitamin C, liquorice and Community Fair Trade aloe vera. Shiso is an aromatic Japanese basil that is often eaten with sashimi. Shiso helps to reduces early melanin-making signals before the hyperpigmentation process and melanin production cycle starts.
Liquorice works to limit the effect of melanin synthesis while Vitamin C provides anti-oxidant protection helping to reduce the production of melanin. According to the product description, the Shiso BB Cream helps to "conceal blemishes and fine lines with a clean, natural finish that feels fresh and lets skin breathe". It also "corrects the colour of skin to give a one tone lighter complexion, soothes dryness and improves over-all skin tone and texture thus giving skin a radiant glow".
The Shiso BB Cream can be used alone as a moisturiser for oily skin types, or over your day time moisturiser for drier skin types. It can also be used as a makeup base under foundation.
I've been wearing the Shiso BB Cream over the past few days while on vacation in the Maldives. It looked so much better on me than the Diorsnow BB Creme! The cream texture is quite typical of BB Creams and blends effortlessly. It doesn't have any ashy grey undertones, neither is it too yellow. It makes my skin look slightly more radiant. I also liked how it did a great job of evening out my skintone and concealing the redness in my cheeks. Despite being out in the sun for several hours, my skin did not get burnt or red at all.
The oil control was pretty good with my T-zone needing blotting about every couple of hours. I've been skipping moisturiser after cleansing my face in the mornings and just using the Shiso BB Cream topped with Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup. The combination has proven to be perfect for a day at the beach as it gives me adequate sun protection and I don't have to worry about it melting off in unsightly streaks in the sea.
Below is the ingredients list.
The Body Shop is currently having a promotion whereby you can get 15% off any two Moisture White products, or 25% off any 3 or more Moisture White products. The list of promotions can be viewed here.

wow Haru, you are at Maldive for holiday!! *clap hands* felt so delighted :) which resort you stay in? and if ok, how much per night? i know it's really cheap as my sister went to a resort called "W" and cost her husband $15K for a 4D3N and this price scares off my husband and no more Maldive for me, sob sob. i really wish to go there! :)
more photos on maldives, ok deaR?
Ahh!!! You're on holiday! You're suppose to be taking a break! I really take my hat off to you; you're so committed to your blog that you even update while on vacation :)
hi Robin,
W is one of the most expensive resorts in the Maldives, so I'm not surprised at the price! There are definitely cheaper ones around. We are staying at the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru.
hi Lynn,
I actually haven't updated since Thursday! :-)
Oh my God, I am so jealous of you right now. I know this is a makeup blog, but I (and a lot of other readers) would love to see photos of your trip.

Love the product shot on the beach. More please? :)
Enjoy your trip, dear~!
That BB Cream looks really nice on you!
typo, i actually mean "it's really Not cheap" traveling to maldive can never be cheap :P

it looks really sunny, is spf25 really enough? i would be paranoid! the finish looks good though. -h.
Maldives, luck girl. Enjoy ur vacation. I hope I get to go before it disappears into the ocean. BTW, love your blog. You do deserve a good vacation. Keep up the good work.
Have you tried the Skin79 pink BB cream. Let me know how that compares.
Cheers!
hi h,
SPF25 is sufficient for a few hours out in the sun. For sunblock, remember to re-apply every couple of hours or if you have been in the water or sweating a lot.
