For this fall, Clinique has just released The New Black makeup collection today in Singapore. Inspired by Clinique's world-famous bestseller Black Honey Almost Lipstick, the collection consists of three products: Color Surge Eye Shadow Quad 01 Black Honey (S$57), Gradient Powder Blusher (S$53) and Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss (S$26). In the US, the collection also includes a Black Honey Dual Ended Almost Lipstick & Long Last Glosswear and Brush-on Cream Liner but these are not available in Singapore.
At the press event, Larry Yeo, ELLE Singapore's Makeup Artist of the Year 2009, demonstrated two looks that he had created, namely Black Honey Princess (for day) and Black Honey Dark Angel (for night).
Larry shows how to apply the Black Honey Gradient Powder Blusher.
Creating a more sultry look for the night.
Here's the breakdown of the two looks.
The finished look on the model (apologies for the poor lighting!). You can see much clearer photos of the model's makeup on Joey'space.
With Joey (Joey's Space) and Sophia (Makeup Blogette).
On my cheeks is the Black Honey Gradient Powder Blusher as applied by Larry. I liked his application method of brushing it upwards from under the cheekbones and then using a big powder brush to blend it out.
Both Joey and I are also wearing the Black Honey Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss. The gloss looks lighter on me as I have on a light pink lipstick underneath.
Like Black Honey Almost Lipstick, the Black Honey Gloss looks scarily dark and gothic in the tube but on the lips, it gives a lovely clear sheer berry tint without any shimmer. I liked how it gave my lips a glossy, juicy sheen and darkened my lipstick just a bit. I love the Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss formula as it keeps my lips perfectly moisturised without feeling sticky and adds a lovely pop of healthy colour. The Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in 09 Currant was a daily staple of mine for awhile.

Given how universally flattering the berry hue of Black Honey is, it's a mystery why Clinique continues to exclude it from the permanent range in Asian countries like Singapore and Japan. Nevertheless, the New Black collection is a good chance to explore the berry shade in three easy-to-use products, so do check it out if you can.
