i love kate and love that watsons have it in their stores. But I still need help in choosing the right foundation colour.

So I went to BHG kate/coffret d'or/lunasol/impress counter to get a recommended colour. I kept asking the SA for a good foundation for oily skin but she just simply shrug it off by saying, your skin shouldn't be oily what so ever if you cleanse properly.

Is this true? Even if I get skincare that clears up my skin, my skin will still be even slightly oily at some time of the day due to our humidity climate outside and dry air con indoors. Or I still have to find again my perfect skincare?

So does it mean that there is no foundation for oily skin and all that categories for such things in other brands are just made up?

I know it's just a one line from the SA... just need some expert makeup lover opinion.

hi,
The oiliness of skin is determined mainly by your hormones and genes. The humid weather here also affects it to some degree. So even if you use a gentle cleanser that does not strip your skin, most people with normal to oil skintypes will still get some oil on their T-zones. The cleanser can only remove the surface dirt and oil, it cannot fundamentally change your skintype although it can help manage some skin problems like acne, dryness etc. You should use a cleanser that doesn't overly strip your skin as that can cause your skin to produce more oil to compensate.

There are many foundations that are formulated to help control oil in the spring/summer seasons and for hot weather. But even with the best oil controlling/mattifying foundations, your skin will still produce a bit of oil and it is natural for skin to do so. Finding the right type of skincare as well as makeup products that don't clog your pores are both important.
