Maquillage Lighting White Powdery UV Foundation

Maquillage Lighting White Powdery UV Foundation SPF25 PA++ is a new two-way foundation that promises to enhance skin translucency and fairness, while concealing pores and uneven skin texture. It is suitable for all seasons and contains a moisturising Pure White Essence (saxifraga sarmentosa extract, zingiber aromaticus extract, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, sodium magnesium silicate).

Available in 6 shades in Singapore, it retails at S$60 for the refill, with the case sold separately. Maquillage's foundation pans fit into cases by other Shiseido brands like Majolica Majorca, so you don't necessarily have to purchase a Maquillage case. After receiving this foundation at a Shiseido event, I've been wearing it for the past couple of weeks. Overall, I found it to be rather average. Although it helped to even out my skintone and reduce the appearance of my pores, the finish was a tad powdery and the oil control wasn't fantastic, with blotting required every couple of hours. The performance just wasn't that impressive to justify the S$40 price difference with Za's True White Plus Two-Way Foundation (Shiseido's drugstore brand).

List of ingredients.

I was much happier with the Shiseido Perfect Rouge RD516 (S$43), which looks like a deep red in the tube but applies with a brighter pink tone. It has a very comfortable, non-drying texture and lasts over 4-5 hours on me (but it does stain cups easily).

For this look, I also used Dior Radiant Base, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Suqqu Blend Color Eyeshadow EX02 Fuyubara (from the holiday 2011 coffret), Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer #2 Light Medium, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow, Ettusais Bitaba Volume Mascara and Physicians Formula Happy Booster blush in Rose.

The Fuyubara quad is my first Suqqu palette. It's beautifully understated and never looks overdone. Both the matte dark brown and pearl grey shades have very good colour payoff while the shimmery pink shade adds a fairly subtle luminosity without being too bling.

The lippy looks really nice on you! And the jewelled casing of the Shiseido powder is really pretty - too bad the powder didn't have that much of a wow-factor

I thought the power is quite good on me ... maybe because I don't have oily skin.

You've been looking very radiant in your recent photographs despite leaving ok reviews for the Bourjois foundation and Macquillage foundation here. Must be your skin then!

hi sy,
I actually gave the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum gel foundation a positive review as I liked it. It was the powder version that didn't impress me but I was not wearing that in the photo in that post. The lighting condition when I take the photos also can affect how my skin looks, very much depends on the weather that day!

Your skin simply looks good each time u use the Dior Radiant Base.

Hi,

Can you do a post on whitening sunblocks that do not make the face oily or less oily ? Something suitable for our tropical climate ?

sorry but how come your blush is not applied on your cheeks but underneath your eye area? i think you will look more natural and radiant if you applied the blush outwards from the middle of the cheeks outwards. just my 2 cents :)

It's a habit that I'm trying to correct! Sometimes the blush placement looks fine when I look in the mirror but looks off or more splotchy than it actually is when photographed. This is particularly so for red-toned blushes.

hi,
For oily skin, you can try Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Mousse.

Is the ZA true white foundation powder than Maquillage Lighting White Powdery UV Foundation in your opinion? Im trying to find a suitable powder foundation. Thanks.:)

There wasn't much of a difference between the Za and Maquillage foundations in terms of the performance on my skin so if you are on a budget, the Za foundation is a more worthwhile buy.

Can the ZA foundation powder refills fit into any MM or other shiseido compact cases? Arigato.

Haru said...

Nope, Za foundation pans don't fit into Majolica cases. They don't have the same plastic rim that Majolica Majorca/Maquillage/Shiseido foundation pans do (which helps to snap them into the case).

Hello, May I know if the Shiseido Hydro-Liquid Compact Refill suit this MM case? Thank you

I don't think so, the Shiseido Hydro Liquid Compact looks like it's made differently.

Hi,
It has been a while since you posted this. May I know if you are still using this foundation? Does it give a white-cast on your face when taking flash picture?
Thank you ^^

hi,
I haven't used this foundation in quite awhile as I have been trying out several other foundations. I'm afraid I don't know if it has a whitish cast when taking photos with flash as I usually don't use flash when taking photos.

I'm from Australia and I'm not familiar with the Maquillage range. Is that a drugstore product from Shiseido or is it more of a cheaper range? I've only tried the White Lucent Brightening Foundation and love it. In your opinion, how does the Maquillage Lighting White Powdery Foundation compare to the White Lucent Brightening foundation?

hi,
Maquillage is a mid-range brand that is sold in both drugstores and department stores in Japan. In Singapore, it is sold only in department stores at the Shiseido counters. It is actually not cheap, for example the lipsticks are usually around US$30+. I haven't tried the White Lucent Brightening foundation so I'm afraid I can't compare the two.
