FOTD with Jill Stuart Aqua Crystal

Met up with Kas of Shine, Shimmer and Sparkle yesterday at Vivocity to catch Despicable Me. I had no idea what the movie was about, but it turned out to be the most hilarious animated movie that I've watched in a long time! Do catch it if you can :-) Anyway, I did a very simple look for the day with Jill Stuart Illuminance Eyes #4 Aqua Crystal with the usual combo of K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24h, Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Liner, Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells and RMK Super Basic Liquid Concealer EX01.

The name "Aqua Crystal" is a bit of a misnomer because this turns out to be more of a purple-themed palette mainly because the mint shade is not well-pigmented and shows up as pale whitish shimmer rather than green or aqua.

Nevertheless, I love the lavender shade in this quad, paired with the grey shade. Unlike the darkest shades in the L'Oreal Open Eyes Chrome Intensity quads, the grey shade in Aqua Crystal is not very intense so you won't be able to create a very dramatic smoky eye with this quad alone.

I used the beige pink shade over the browbone area, the lavender shade from the inner corners to just past the middle of the lid and along the lower lashline, the grey shade at the outer corners and the mint shade at the inner corners.

The pic above was taken under indoor lighting while the pic below was taken near the window in natural daylight.

I had earlier complained that my Lancome Virtuose Precious Cells mascara was already drying up just two months after purchasing it. But turns out that it was actually the weather in New Delhi that made it apply dry and clumpy. After returning back to Singapore, it applied smoothly on my lashes again. But still I would not repurchase it as it is just too expensive for something that can last only 3-4 months before you have to discard it.

For the rest of the face, I used Maquillage Sherbet Base, Dior Compact Control X4 Powder Foundation, Guerlain Meteorites Butterfly Pearls, Stila One Step Prime Color Capri Coral on the cheeks and L'Occitane Liquid Shine Lip Color Rigolotte/Cheeky.

The Maquillage Sherbet Base comes in an aerosol spray metal bottle. You spray it into your palm and then apply it to your face. It applies with a cooling effect that feels refreshing, especially in Singapore's hot weather. It works quite well as a foundation base. The Dior foundation applied and blended smoothly over it and I only needed to blot some three hours later.
