Bobbi Brown Pink Oyster Collection

Stopped by the Bobbi Brown counter at Isetan Scotts today to ask about the Asia-exclusive Pink Oyster collection and to my great surprised, it was already available! According to the SA, the collection was just released on Friday. But I did not see it at the Bobbi Brown store in Ion or the counter in Tangs Vivocity today.

Anyway, being a die-hard collector of Shimmer Bricks, I naturally ended up purchasing the Pink Oyster Shimmer Brick (S$66). The SA said that the Shimmer Brick was especially flattering on Asian skin tones. Since it was limited edition, she also advised "if want to buy, must 'chong'! (rush)" :-)

Pink Oyster is similar to Pink Quartz in that when you swirl a brush over the five strips, it applies mostly as a silvery shimmer. Unlike Nectar or Rose Shimmerbricks, the pink tone is not very visible so Pink Oyster works better as a highlighter than a blush. But if swatched individually, the colours do show up more distinctly like how they appear in the pan and you can also use these as eyeshadows.

The Shimmer Brick is manufactured in Italy in February 2010.

I also picked up the Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Opal (S$36). True to its name, this applies as a pearly white with a gorgeous pink iridescence.

This shimmmerbrick looks lovely! LOVING those pink shades! I live in the States and this one was not released here I don't think. Instead we got that "Beach" brick, which I am much much less enthused about :/ I'm wondering if you know of any online vendors that might sell the Pink Oyster brick?, since sadly I don't think I'll be able to go to Asia anytime soon to pick one up. :)

hi,
Sorry, I don't know of any websites that may sell this, though you can try asking Bobodave.com or Ichibankao.com as they are based in Japan.

OMG!!!! Is it OOS yet? Must get!!

BTW Haru, can you teach me how to use the cream eyeshadow? Looks real glittery, I wonder what it would look like on the eyelids :)

TIA

I have the Rose brick but hardly use it now as I realized the shimmery finish tended to accentuate my large pores on my cheeks when I used it as a blush. :( Do you have this problem with the BB shimmerbricks in general?

wah, beautiful! I want to get one too.

hi JC,
The Opal Metallic Cream Eyeshadow can be used on its own all over the lid (appears as a pale shimmery pinkish white) or as a base for powder eyeshadows. I usually use cream eyeshadows as a base and then layer powder eyeshadows over them.

hi Hannah,
The Shimmer Bricks can be frosty and accentuate pores if over-applied with too heavy a hand, so I usually just do a very light dusting of it on the apples of my cheeks (where I don't have enlarged pores/acne scars) with a fluffy cheek brush. The glimmer of the Shimmer Bricks looks especially lovely under sunlight.

Sounds like I shouldn't use the shimmer brick as a blush then but strictly as a highlighter. Shall try applying with a light hand tomorrow. Thanks. :)

hi,

i've just been told by a BobbiBrown SA that the Pink Oyster Shimmer Brick is actually the Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick and since you actually have the Pink Oyster SB, what do you think? Are both the same?

I am also thinking of getting the Beach SB after seeing some swatches online, do you think it'll be a good buy?

Tx

hi,
The BB SA doesn't know what she's talking about. The Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick is different from Pink Oyster. You can see close-up pics of Pink Quartz in this post:

Pink Quartz has more strips of brown, whereas Pink Oyster has a pearly white strip and light beige strip.

hi,
I saw swatches and a review by Musingsofamuse and the Beach Shimmer Brick looks very brown, so I can probably use it only as an eyeshadow as it would be too muddy on my cheeks. So not really a must-get for me as I'm not into browns.
