Backstage at MAC for Antonio Berardi and alldressedup

Earlier today, Kas and I got to visit the MAC team backstage at the Audi Fashion Festival again. The models were being prepped for the Antonio Berardi and alldressedup shows.

MAC Senior Artist Beno Lim explained that Berardi had requested a very natural look for the models, like "rich girls looking fabulous". Beno prepped the model's skin with Lightful moisturiser and used Strobe Cream around the temples to highlight. He massaged the Strobe Cream in with his fingertips and then buffed it with the kabuki brush.

MAC's Face and Body Foundation was used to give the skin a very natural, healthy look, with Select Moisturecover to conceal. Beno's tip for making the concealer meld in seamlessly is to press it in with the fingertip. He used Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Dark to contour under the cheekbones and applied Tenderling blush on the apples of the cheeks. Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder was lightly dusted on just the T-zone, so as not to cover up the glowy effect of Strobe Cream.

The lips were a mix of Lip Conditioner in Gentle Coral (discontinued) and Red lipstick, topped with Gloss.

The eyes were kept very understated with just Haute & Naughty Lash mascara, a bit of foundation dusted over with Brule eyeshadow and no eyeliner.

The finished look is very natural and healthy, but Beno explained that it's actually harder to achieve compared to a more colourful look.

For local label alldressedup, the desired look was vintage pin-up girl. To make the skin look more flawless and polished, Beno used Studio Sculpt foundation, which has more coverage than Face & Body foundation. He mixed it with a small drop of Cleanse Off Oil to give it a slightly dewy finish.

On the eyes, he used Pearl Cream Color Base, Shroom, Wedge and Paradisco eyeshadows with Jardin Aires pigment (discontinued) to give a bit of shine. He also did a winged out eyeliner with Blacktrack Fluidline. The brows were thickened and defined with Espresso eyeshadow. MSF in Medium Deep was used again to contour under the cheekbones and Pink Swoon blush was used on the cheeks.

The classic red lips were done with Red Lipliner and Russian Red lipstick.
