Dior Night Golds

This week, I've been putting my new Dior Night Golds palette (from the Grand Bal holiday collection) to heavy use.

It bears a certain resemblance to Lunasol's Ocean Scene Eyes EX01 Shelly Ocean (from the Summer 2011 collection), which is my most frequently used Lunasol palette. Both contain a dark dirty brown paired with shimmery pearl white, taupe and light gold. Night Golds is definitely the more versatile of the two though, thanks to the inclusion of that super shiny metallic gold. The paler shades in Night Golds also offer better contrast against one another.

The shades in Night Golds have a finely milled, silky finish that make them superbly easy to apply and blend. The glittery gold shade applies as a coat of fine gold sparkles, so I usually save that for the last to be dusted on top of the other shades. I use the included sponge applicators except with the white shade, for which I use a brush to achieve a sheer finish.

For this look, I applied the white shade over the browbone area, the light taupe in the crease, the light gold above the crease and along the lower lashline, the dark brown along the upper lashline and the metallic gold in the centre of the lid.

Using Too Faced Shadow Insurance as the base, the eyeshadows lasted well through the day without any creasing or fallout. Being Dior, Night Golds is pricey but the beautifully coordinated shades make it a worthwhile splurge to consider if you are looking for a palette that works equally well for day and night.
