The Body Shop is currently having a 20% storewide discount (sorry, can't remember if this is only for members) so I took advantage of it to haul the new Spa Wisdom Japan and spring makeup collection.
I've been lemming this limited edition Shimmer Cubes #19 ever since pics of it first surfaced late last year. It is a gorgeously vibrant combination of emerald teal, royal blue, lilac and golden beige. These are very pigmented and apply true to how they appear in the pot. It costs S$36.90 normally but you can get a 25% discount on the new spring makeup collection with a purchase of any makeup item (including one from the spring collection). I got mine at only 20% off (S$29.50) as I did not want to buy any other makeup items. Considering the amount of product in it (4x3.5g), the Shimmer Cubes are very worthwhile when compared against the price of, say a MAC eyeshadow (1.5g).
I decided to get the Spa Wisdom Japan Mini Essentials set (S$29.90) as it's a good way to try out most of the products in the range for a decent price. It contains the Yuzu and Green Tea Bathing Salts 50g (pictured below), Adzuki Bean & Rice Shower Gel 60ml, Yuzu & Rice Body Milk 60ml and Apricot & Rice Finishing Mist 60ml. The scents in this range are all quite subtle, and make for a nice change from the usual sweet fruity aromas.
The Adzuki Bean & Rice Shower Gel has a subtle rice fragrance with citrus tones. It has a nicely thick gel consistency (I hate those shower gels that are watery) that lathers up easily and rinses off clean without drying out my skin. The scent does not linger on the skin as strongly as some of the Body Shop's other shower gels.
The Adzuki Bean & Rice Washing Grains (125g) are a dry exfoliating scrub for the face and body. This costs S$39.90 normally but you can get it now for S$19.90 with purchase of any Spa Wisdom Japan item.
One thing that bugged me is that the packaging is somewhat deceptive. If you flip the tub on its side, you'll see that it's actually only about half full! As for the product itself, the scrubby bits melted a bit too fast which means you'll need to use quite a lot for a thorough scrubbing of the whole body. The product size is fine if you intend to use it only on the face but if used for the body, it probably would not last more than 10 uses.
Ingredient list.
Overall, I would recommend getting the Mini Essentials kit if you're interested to try out the Spa Wisdom Japan range but skip the Adzuki Bean & Rice Washing Grains as there are much more effective and cheaper exfoliants out there. I got the kit at 20% discount so it was only S$23.90. You can check out the current list of promotions at the Body Shop website.

Ooh, is that cube only available there, or do you think I can find it in the US somewhere?
hi agmini,
The Shimmer Cubes #19 are not exclusive to Singapore or Asia. You should be able to find them at the Body Shops in the US as well, when the spring makeup collection is released over there.
