MAC Beauty Balm

While going through Changi Airport and Narita Airport on Monday night, I was surprised to see a new MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm at the MAC counters in the two airports. The price in Narita is 2700yen, which seems quite reasonable and much cheaper than MAC's usual foundations. I didn't ask about the price at Changi Airport.

According to this DFNIonline.com, the Mac Prep + Prime Beauty Balm UVA/UVB SPF 35 PA+++ is exclusively in duty-free and travel-retail. It is "a multi-function product that works as colour perfector, face primer, UV protector and hydrator for all skin types", in short very similar to the BB Creams made popular by South Korean brands. Mac Prep + Prime Beauty Balm will be available only at select travel-retail and duty-free locations in Asia and the US from May. The recommended retail price in the US is US$30.

MAC is the second Western brand that I know of getting on the BB cream bandwagon, after Lancome.

I thought Blemish Balm Creams were supposed to be partly help improve skin conditions too? Is it is sly marketing play on words or am I thinking too much

hi Evie,
Yea, Blemish Balms are supposed to help heal the skin. Different companies have different names for BB creams so this could just be another variation. Like Skin79 calls its BB creams as 'beblesh balms'.

hi elaine,
the MAC Beauty Balm is already available at Changi Airport in Singapore. Perhaps you can try DFS Galleria in Scotts Road to see if they have it. I did not buy it.

Its available at DFS. I tested it at the back of my hand, too light for me. Guess its only meant for fairer ladies...
