Stila Pretty in Paris

Pretty in Paris is the second in the series of five Stila Travel Palettes. I obtained this through a CP from the US. As mentioned in my review of the Road to Radiance Across the USA palette, it is very affordable at just US$10 and packs quite a lot of product with four powder eyeshadows and a Convertible Color.

Some reviews have highlighted that the eyeshadows don't have the same colour payoff as Stila's regular eyeshadows and that the best item in the Travel Palette is the Convertible Color. I found the Convertible Color to be quite pigmented and easy to blend out for a subtle hint of color. I only use the Convertible Colors on my cheeks.

The quotes on the inside of the palette under the mirror are a nice touch and reminescent of the round Stila eyeshadow cardboard compacts that came with quotes printed on the underside of the cover.

I was expecting Pretty in Paris to be a plum-themed palette but it turned out to be more brown-toned. I didn't have any problems in getting the eyeshadows to show up as I always use an eyeshadow primer.

I used Crepe as a wash over the browbone area, Cherie from the inner corners to the middle of the lid, Jolie from the middle of the lid to the outer corners and Chocolat in the crease.

Then I finished by applying MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner Marked for Glamour along the upper lashline and Clinique Heavy Impact Mascara.

The other products I used are: Dior X4 Control Compact Foundation 012, Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 01, Jill Stuart Loose Powder #1 Natural, Anna Sui Spot Concealer 01, Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek in Parasol and Burberry Lip Cover Soft Satin Lipstick #20 Hibiscus. (I posted this FOTD in my earlier review of the Burberry lipstick.)

Overall, I think Pretty in Paris is a palette that is very easy to wear and the eyeshadows and Convertible Color are of decent quality. I would love to see Stila continue this series of Travel Palettes as the possibilities are just endless and make for a fun, colorful addition to any Stila makeup collection.

Here's the ingredients list.

Hi Haru

what do you think of the new maybelline mineral compact foundation? i read some taiwanese TV show and the Makeup artist used it with maybelline mineral BB and the models look flawless :)

fyi: my finding on the shade PO (pink) is lightest, their OC (which i make out as normal shade) is darker than their lightest Beige (BO) shade surprisingly. i thought usually OC lightest should be "lighter" than BO/BE lightest but apparently based on the pan look, the BE looks darker

Hi Ling,
I'm afraid I haven't tried or seen the Maybelline mineral foundation. The lightest Beige Ochre is usually lighter than the lightest Ochre shade, for Japanese brands like Kanebo, but of course that can vary depending on the specific foundation.
