Pupa Very Vintage

Spotted the new Pupa "Very Vintage" spring makeup collection at Sasa in Wisma Atria yesterday!

The collection has a charming vintage pin-up girl feel to it. The Very Vintage Blush Trios in pink and peach are S$39 each. These swatched very smoothly with a soft matte finish.

The standouts for me were the three Very Vintage Luminys Satin & Shine eyeshadows (S$29 each). The silvery parts are high shine sparkle-city without being gritty while the larger crescent-shaped portions have a silky satin finish.

ALT @ Heeren

I went to explore the new ALT store at the Heeren today with Kas of Shine, Shimmer & Sparkle. Spread out over three floors in the space formerly occupied by HMV, ALT felt like it was modelled after the Loft in Japan. The store is very brightly lit, airy and neatly organised. There were hardly any customers, which was a bit sad because the store is really a beauty addict's playground.

The ground floor has a section for bags and a beauty section with Paul & Joe, Pupa, I Nuovi, Ettusais, Lotree, fresh Minerals, the Makeup Store, Ossion, Kanava and Panadda. Panadda is a makeup brand from Thailand. I quite liked some of the blushes (S$25.90), which felt very silky with good colour payoff and a lovely shimmer.

The Pupa counter is massive and much more impressive than the displays at Sasa and BHG Bugis.

Ossion is a Korean skincare brand. It is displayed next to Kanava nailpolishes, but I don't know if the two brands are related.

The second floor is ladies' clothing. The third floor is the highlight of the store for me as it contains literally what must be over 100 brands including L'Oreal, Bourjois, Canmake, Kate, Shills, Principessa, Kiehls and many more that I'm not familiar with. For everything from haircare, skincare, bodycare, nails and makeup, you are just spoilt for choice here with the selection of brands available. Many of the brands here can also be found at Sasa, Watsons or Sephora but I liked the refined and quiet atmosphere of ALT where you are left to browse in peace to your heart's content.

Shills face powder and concealer stick.

The Principessa display.

False eyelashes display.

BB Creams galore.

Spotted some EcoTools skincare kits that I haven't seen at Watsons.

For nail addicts, there is a very well-stocked OPI section, including the latest Shrek Forever After and Summer Flutter collections. The Summer Flutter is also available in the set of 4 minis for S$35. The full size OPIs cost S$23.50.

The Orly display.

The third floor also carries snacks, household items and toys, like a rubber chicken that lets out the most hilarious (and LOUD) whining squeal when squeezed.

Do check out ALT if you get the chance!

BHG Sale

BHG department store at Bugis Junction is giving 10% rebate vouchers for cosmetics and fragrances today and tomorrow with some brands such as Pupa, Bourjois, Revlon and L'Oreal at 20% off. Bourjois' new fall color makeup collection has been launched there. Do check it out for the lovely Ombre Stretch Eyeshadow #11 Emerald Green!

Pupa had the Visionary Wood collection on display. I was very tempted by the lovely rosey nude shimmery blush/highlighter (extreme right side of the display) which costs about S$31.

Also came across this new Canmake limited edition summer collection display in the Watsons at Bugis Junction showcasing the two Highlight Gradation #3 Shiny Gold and #4 Shiny Pink, Shading Powders #1 Danish Brown and #2 Burnt Brown and Four Shiny Eyes #5 Bitter Coffee. None of the items really impressed me though.

Pupa Luminys Baked Eyeshadows & Blush

I came across a brilliant line of baked eyeshadows and face powders from Pupa, an Italian brand, in my local Sasa store and couldn't resist picking some of them up. The texture is luxuriously silky with great color payoff. The eyeshadows can be applied either dry or wet (for greater intensity). I got the Eyeshadow Mono Double Effects in #2, #4, #9 and #10 (S$25; 11.90 euros) as well as the Luminys Baked All Over Illuminating Blush Powder #1 (S$35.10). These are all made in Italy, where MAC's MSFs are also produced. What I liked about the Illuminating Blush Powder is that it has only very fine pearlescent microshimmer that is not too frosty and it also has no chunky glitter bits that make one look like a disco ball. It comes in only 2 shades. #2 is a more beige/tan combination. I think this may be limited edition as it was not part of the larger Pupa counter at Seiyu Bugis. Seiyu had another line of baked blushes that are smaller and come in 4 shades.

The eyeshadows come in a gorgeous array of vibrant and neutral shades. There was a 20% discount on the eyeshadows and so I ended up getting 4 of these. There are about 10 shades in total as well as another 4 that came out for spring/summer.
