Suqqu Fall 2012 and Dual Eye Balm

The Suqqu website has been updated with the fall 2012 collection, which will be launched on 10 August in Japan.

It includes three new Blend Color Eyeshadow quads (7140yen) in #13 Akanezora, #14 Kosumosuiro and EX07 Tsukiakari. Tsukiakari is limited edition. Each quad contains a pearly light color (top left), pearly arrange color (top right), creamy deep color (bottom left) for lining and smudging, and matte veil color (bottom right). Of the four, the matte veil color contains the most finely milled powder particles with a 'soft focus' effect.

There are also two limited edition Gradation Cheeks (6825yen) in EX01 Mizudaidai and EX02 Mizumomo. The shade on the left side is adds a slightly glowy, translucent flush of color, while the shade on the right is more sheer, for blending into the skintone with a "foggy" effect.

There are five new shades of Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist (5250yen), of which EX05 and EX06 are limited edition, and a limited edition light pink Chiffon Feel Loose Powder (6300yen).

On 5 October, Suqqu will launch a Dual Eye Balm (12600yen), containing yeast extract. It is composed of a deep hydrating balm (6g) and a moisturising balm (11g). Pic from Biteki.com.

Lancome Rénergie Yeux Multiple Lift

The delicate eye area is often one of the first areas to show visible signs of ageing and in that regard, it pays to prevent these signs from emerging through regular care instead of resorting to more drastic measures later. For preventing tired-looking eyes, Lancome has just launched Rénergie Yeux Multiple Lift (S$120) in Singapore.

This nifty little pot contains an eye cream (15ml) and a tinted illuminator (4g) to help the eye area look rested and rejuvenated. Applied with the massaging technique recommended by Lancome, they are supposed to deliver six visible actions thanks to ingredients such as a firming active Argan extract and a plumping GF-Volumetry complex: the eyelids look lifted, fine lines are reduced, dark circles become less prominent, the eye contour looks firmer, the under eye bags are reduced and the eye contour looks illuminated.

Nestled under the flip-top lid is the tinted illuminator which can be used on its own or over a concealer. The tinted illuminator does not provide sufficient coverage on its own to perfectly camouflage severe dark circles but it does add a subtle illuminating effect without any obvious glimmer particles. The mirror under the lid comes in useful during the application process.

The eye cream has a rich consistency but surprisingly, it absorbs into the skin effortlessly without any greasy after-feel. After receiving this from Lancome, I've been using it regularly twice a day over the past month. It worked very well for alleviating the dryness of the skin around my eyes, which has become more pronounced now that I'm in my 30s. The fine lines under my eyes look less obvious too, but they have not vanished completely (and I don't think they will).

The eye cream is protected by a second cap inside. It's useful for preserving the shelf-life of the cream but it can be a tad time-consuming to fiddle with if you have clumsy fingers like mine, plus I always worry about dropping it while holding the pot and the external cap.

The detailed application steps.

According to the box, the product has a shelf life of 6 months from the date of opening. Below is the list of ingredients.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Eye

A couple of months ago, I was sent samples of the Elizabeth Arden's new Prevage Eye Advanced Anti-aging Serum and Ultra Protection Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF15 PA++. Both products contain idebenone (a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect against free radicals that cause skin to age) in a new compatible ester delivery system, as well as I-seryl Complex (acetyl tetrapeptide-5), which is a peptide that helps skin to look firmer and less puffy.

The Prevage Eye Advanced Anti-aging Serum (S$186, 15ml) also contains other powerful antioxidants such as green tea and lypochromin-6, plus marine algae extract and soy protein which help the skin to look firmer. After using this regularly for the past few weeks, the skin around my eyes feels much more hydrated and plump.

It can't cause the fine lines under my eyes to vanish completely but it does help to reduce their appearance. Keeping the skin around the eyes well-hydrated is also key to preventing and delaying the emergence of more fine lines. The serum absorbs well without any greasiness. Here's the ingredients list.

The Prevage Eye Ultra Protection Anti-Aging Moisturizer (S$186, 15ml) has a slightly denser and creamier texture than the serum. This is recommended for daytime use as it has broad spectrum sun protection against both UVA and UVB rays. This comes in a pot packaging with a spatula. It contains an advanced moisture complex that is a blend of hyaluronic acid with other humectants and a polymer to help lock moisture deep within the skin. A botanical blend of siegesbeckia orientalis and rabdosia rubescens extract also helps to reduce the effects of oxidative stress to promote a more even skintone.

Of the two products, I prefer the Advanced Anti-aging Serum as it has a lighter texture and comes in a more hygienic tube packaging whereas the Ultra Protection Anti-Aging Moisturizer feels oily on my skin. Here's the ingredients list for the Ultra Protection Anti-Aging Moisturizer.

The press kit also included this wonderful little photo-book showcasing Arden's products of yesteryear. Arden celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010.
