Maquillage Glossy Perfect Rouge PK715

I received Maquillage Glossy Perfect Rouge PK715 to try out. As the name suggests, it is a high-shine lipstick that gives a glossy coat of colour.

The shade is a peachy pink with flecks of gold micro-sparkles. I liked how glossy and moisturising the lipstick felt and the fact that it gave my lips a nice healthy pop of colour with just a couple of coats, unlike some glossy lipsticks which just add shine without any colour.

In terms of lasting power, it was average and required touch-ups after eating. Also, it tends to accentuate any skin flakes so it is best to ensure that your lips are well-exfoliated and moisturised before applying this lipstick.

However, overall I still prefer the Lasting Perfect Rouge as I found that the micro-sparkles in the Glossy Perfect Rouge tended to stay on my lips after I had removed the lipstick with tissue paper. If you want a glossy sheen with a more pigmented finish and better lasting power, then I would recommend the Lasting Perfect Rouge over the Glossy Perfect Rouge.

EOTD: Maquillage Eyes Creator PK766 Look 2

Here's the second look that I did with Maquillage Eyes Creator PK766. Instead of using the white cream base in the palette, I used T'estimo Bright Up Eye Base (my usual eye primer) to prime my lids before applying the powder eyeshadows to see if there was any difference.

I used the pearl white shade (this actually has a slight pink glow) over the browbone area, followed by the light gold shade from the inner corners to the middle of the lid and along the lower lash line, and the peach shade from the middle of the lid to the outer corners. I finished with the dark brown cream liner along the upper lashline and K-Palette Real Lasting Volume Mascara.

I preferred the T'estimo Bright Up Eye Base over the cream base in the Maquillage palette as the former allows the powder eyeshadows to glide on more smoothly and apply more true to how they appear in the pan. The lasting power is also better with the T'estimo base but even with the T'estimo base, the dark brown cream liner still had some creasing and fading issues.

MAC Spring Forecast

Chanced across the MAC promotional booth set up in the space in front of the Tangs entrance at Vivocity (Level 1) for the Spring Forecast makeover event. The last time MAC did such a big event was for the Barbie collection in 2009, I think. The makeover promo seems to have ended yesterday (Sunday 14 March). You can read about the launch party on Makeupstash.com.

I found the promo visuals for this collection to be less than impressive. Aside from the ghastly bob wigs, half of the models' faces are cast in shadows so it's difficult to see how the products actually look on their skin.

The collection is massive and broken down into four parts, Coral, Amber, Pink and Plum. The only item that caught my eye was Ripe Peach blush (S$45). Even more tempted to go back for it after seeing how lovely it looks on Everbluec!

EOTD: Maquillage Eyes Creator PK766

Shiseido sent me their new Maquillage Eyes Creator PK766 palette from the new Spring 2010 collection to review. You can see my earlier swatches of all the five new palettes here.

The palette consists of three powder eyeshadows, a cream base (#1), a cream liner (#5) and dual-ended sponge and brush applicators. Of the eyeshadows, #2 is the "Clear Colour", #3 is the "Shadow Colour" and #4 is the "Flash Colour". The individual pans can be actually be removed and swopped with the single eyeshadows in Maquillage's lineup.

The powder eyeshadows all have a lovely soft pearl shimmer. The texture is very silky and refined without being too powdery. There are also no obvious glitter bits.

The cream base in PK766 is more shimmery compared to the cream base in the other four palettes. It spreads easily to form a smooth canvas for the powder eyeshadows.

For this look, I brushed the pearl white shade over the browbone area, then used the sponge applicator to apply the pale gold shade in the crease and the peachy shade from the upper lashline to the crease as well as along the lower lashline. Then I used the angled flat brush applicator to line the upper lashline with the dark brown cream liner and finished off with a coat of ModelCo mascara.

I liked how smoothly the eyeshadows applied and the soft shimmer which helps to brighten up the eye area. Made my eyes look much more awake! There was also no fallout on my cheeks and the eyeshadows lasted well over several hours of wear. The cream eyeliner applied very smoothly as well and I liked how the angled brush was able to draw a very fine winged line. However, the lasting power of the cream liner was not as good as the eyeshadows. There was some creasing and fading of the liner at the inner corners after about 4 hours.

Overall, I liked the combination of the shades which gives a sweet, fresh feminine look that is perfect for the spring season. The comprehensive nature of the palette means that it is very convenient for touch-ups on the go or for travel, as you do not need to bring separate brushes or primer.

Lunasol Spring 2010 Launch

Lunasol launched its Spring 2010 collection at Takashimaya today. There is also a 10% discount on all Lunasol products for a week starting from today, which means you can get the eyeshadow quads at just S$70 instead of the usual S$77.

The gift with purchase of S$160. The bag and pouch are quite nicely designed.

The quads impressed me with their silky and smooth texture. It feels more finely milled and less powdery than Geminate Eyes or Scent Form Eyes. The texture is probably most similar to Sheer Contrast Eyes but feels more velvety compared to Sheer Contrast Eyes (although this could be due to the ridges across the surface of the eyeshadows in the Nature Colour Eyes palettes). There aren't any gritty glitter bits but several of the shades are quite shimmery.

My favourite is probably #1 Nature Blue followed by #2 Nature Green, although I wish the collection had brighter and vivid shades.

#1 Nature Blue. The light blue + light mint combination reminds me of Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes BL711 but the light blue shade in #1 Nature Blue has better colour payoff.

#2 Nature Green

#3 Nature Brown

#4 Nature Beige

#5 Nature Colourful

The Shining Water Eyes reminded me very much of Visee Aqua Shining Eyes. They have the same lovely metallic sheen and smooth light creamy texture. These apply sheer at first but can be layered for greater intensity.

The Full Glamour Gloss are very sheer with tiny micro-sparkles.

From left to right: #17 Soft Coral, #18 Soft Yellow, #19 Soft Beige and #21 Soft Pink. I did not bother to swatch #20 Clear as it is just a normal clear gloss.

Fasio Shade Trick Eyes

The Fasio Spring 2010 collection is out at Watsons stores. The collection includes five new Shade Trick Eyes (S$21.40) and two Hyper Stay Mascara Magna Plus in Curl Long and Curl Volume.

The Shade Trick Eyes combinations looked very attractive under the store lights, with their twinkling shimmery finish.

While swatching these, I realised that the four shades in each palette had a slightly different texture. The white shade in each palette had the smoothest, most finely milled texture with a soft pearl glimmer while the second lightest had a more shimmery and sheer finish. The second darkest shade had a very smooth texture and well-pigmented metallic finish while the darkest shades swatched dry and somewhat chalky. I swatched these without the help of any base/primer.

Watsons is currently having a 20% discount on Fasio but the discount is supposed to exclude new and promotional items. (It's still worth checking with the cashier first if these are eligible for the discount as previously the Majolica Majorca holiday collection were also eligible for the discount despite being newly released.) Of the five palettes, GR4 is my favourite thanks to the lovely deep emerald shade in it.

BR1 Dark Brown

BR3 Brown and GR4 Green. The medium green shade in GR4 has more of a emerald tone to it than it appears in the pics below.

BL2 Blue and PK5 Pink

EOTD: Majolica Majorca She Was A Doll

Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes BL711 is a palettes of shimmery pale pastels that would probably work best on fair complexions. The shades are mostly cool-toned with a lovely smooth finish. They apply sheer at first but can be layered for greater intensity.

I used the included sponge applicator to apply the white shade on the browbone area, the pale mint from the upper lashline to the crease, the brown shade along the upper lashline and the light blue shade along the lower lashline and inner corners.

The brown shade is not very intense or dark so if you want greater definition, you will need to use a separate eyeliner. The blue shade applies with a more of an icy tone, and not as blue as it looks in the pan. Overall, this palette would be quite easy for most ladies to wear and apply as the shades are not crazily pigmented or bright. They complement one another quite well for a fresh spring look that livens up the eyes without turning ashy.

The Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On has a double-edge comb applicator for adding volume and length. Unlike the previous version of Lash Enamel Glamour, the new version contains short fat fibres, 'volume up powder', gloss oil and waterproof polymers. As its name suggests, Lash Bone Black Fibre In contains black fibres in a clear base and is to be used as a mascara primer.

Here's a pic of my bare lashes for comparison.

Pic below shows Lash Bone Black Fibre In applied. This felt a bit like applying glue! The applicator tends to deposit a bit too much product at the base of my lashes, which are sparse and thin, but it does add length and helps to hold the curl.

Pic below shows Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On applied. While I like the glossy jet black formula and lengthening effect, the new comb design is tricky to get the hang of as it tends to deposit too much product which leads to clumping. This can probably be easily rectified by wiping the excess product off the wand with tissue first.

Overall, I thought the comb applicator took too much work but I do like the mascara formula as it glides on very smoothly and builds visible length and volume from the very first stroke, unlike some other brands which take several strokes to build up length and volume. My lashes also stayed curled without being weighed down.
