Magie Deco Spring '08 Collection

Yet another spring collection that will be launching in December. Magie Deco, the new color makeup brand from Cosme Decorte, will be introducing its new spring collection on 16 December in Japan. The collection includes:

Awake Spring 2008 Collection

Awake's limited edition Spring'08 "Star Illusion" collection plays with the themes of moonlight and starlight to create eyeshadows and lipglosses with gorgeous colourful shimmer.

Star Illusion Eyes Stardom (5040yen) : X1 Moon Dust Blue, X2 Duo Moon Gold and X3 Rosa Nova all look like must-haves! These come in a similar style as the Reflectance Eyes Stardom palettes, which I also adore.

This spring, Beaute de Kose's limited edition Spring'08 collection will be launched on 2 January in Japan.

Coffret D'Or Combiant Rouge

Coffret D'Or will be introducing Combiant Rouge (not sure of the exact spelling), in 8 shades on 16 January. Priced at 2940yen, the top part contains a slim lipstick, Styling Rouge, while the lower part contains a shimmery lipgloss, Shining Rouge. So you can create three different textures with just one product. The theme for the spring collection is "Active Luxury".

Maquillage, Integrate & Majolica Majorca Website Updates

The Maquillage, Integrate and Majolica Majorca websites have been updated with the holiday collections! The Maquillage website also features the new 15-second and 30-second TV CMs with the new tagline is "Dresscode: lips".

Majolica Majorca as usual has the most interesting website layout with the Frozen Princess holiday collection presented as Chapter 17 of the MM serial. The new layout is an innovative riff on the usual princess fairytales with the MM princess in a winter snowscape surrounded by a frog (that turns into the new Majolook palettes!), an apple, a butterfly, spider and praying mantis, each of which leads to a new item in the collection.

Jill Stuart Spring 2008

FAnet posted these photos of the upcoming Jill Stuart Spring 2008 collection which will be launched in Japan on 18 January! The good news is that most of the collection is permanent except for the nail lacquer. I'm sure there are more items in the collection other than those shown here since Jill's spring collection is usually one of its largest for the year. I'm definitely hoping for more Seductive Eyes palettes! The new Mix Blush Compact #6 looks similar to #3 Coral Glow. These have been a best seller for Jill Stuart with the first month's sales alone surpassing what they had anticipated for the next half year.

Tarte We Wish You Wealth

My Tarte We Wish You Wealth palette finally made its way over the oceans to me! It's truly the queen of all palettes as it contains 16 full size eyeshadows, 16 lipglosses, 4 cheekstains, 4 gel eyeliners, 1 primer, 1 luminiser, 3 lipsticks, an eyeshadow brush, an eyeliner brush, a small double-ended sponge-tip applicator and a small double-ended brush.

I wasn't impressed with the gel eyeliners and luminiser from Tarte's earlier palettes as the eyeliners tended to crease and fade easily and the luminiser did not give a nice finish. But even discounting these, the We Wish You Wealth palette is well worth the US$52 price tag just for the wide array of eyeshadows, lipglosses and cheekstains that are in it. Sure I would have preferred it if there were less neutral shades and more colourful options, but this is still a very good set of basic shades that are easily to wear without worrying about looking like a clown. The range of lip colors is excellent and chances are you can find a color to suit any mood that you're feeling. The only oddity is the moss green gel eyeliner shade which looks out of place in a palette of largely neutrals, pastels and smokey shades.

The big drawback of thus palette is the silly packaging where each layer swivels out to reveal the one beneath. It's a clumsy setup that virtually guarantees that you're going to end up mashing some of the shades by accident. It would have been much more idiot-proof if it was a simple stacked drawer system where you just pull out each layer like a chest of drawers. It should also be noted that this palette is made in China whereas Tarte's previous palettes used to be made in the US with only the packaging made in China. That kind of cheapens Tarte's brand image for me as usually it's drugstore brands like Wet'n'Wild and Jane that have their products made in China.

Overall, I would say this is definitely worth considering if you're thinking of trying Tarte out but f you already own many of Tarte's previous palettes, then this may not really rock your world given that less than exciting colour range and awkward construction.

Every holiday season, Stila usually releases a blockbuster set of their bestselling products packaged in a huge box. This year's blockbuster set is exclusive to Sephora.com and available only online. The Glamour Galore Set contains:

I think they could have been more creative with this set given that this is the third or forth time that they're doing it. But at least they've included a more interesting range of shades instead of the usual Kitten eyeshadow. Another good change is that the lip glazes are the full size versions and not the mini/classic sizes. If used daily, one lip glaze would barely last a month. That's how little product there is in this babies! This set retails for US$150 and claims to have a value of US$400.

Excel Website Update

Excel's holiday collection "Gorgeous Nude" is up on the official website. The model's makeup looks pretty but the bouffant hairdo just makes it look silly!

Love Clover Non Dry Gel & Non Oil Essence

For this winter, Love Clover has introduced two new skincare products, one for dry skin and another for oily skin. Non Dry Gel N (2415yen, 75g) is for skin in need of deep moisturising. Formulated with a "Moist Complex", it contains three types of ceramides, two types of collagen and two types of hyaluronic acid. It is also oil-free for a non-sticky finish. Non Oil Essence (2415yen, 80g) is for combating enlarged pores and skin that is prone to oiliness. It contains extracts of kiwi, royal jelly, artichoke and a "pore cover powder" for reducing the appearance of pores and making your skin appear smoother and more even.

Both are free of fragrance, artificial colouring and alcohol. These can be used on their own or as primers before applying makeup.
