Majolica Majorca Fairy Sadistic

The Majolica Majorca Fairy Sadistic collection has been released at the Watsons store in Ngee Ann City. The highlight of the collection are the new Perfect Automatic Liners (S$22.90). I picked up the green one, which I'll review later after I've tried it out.

Mooks/Mags Haul

My copies of InRed,Steady, the Gelato Pique mook arrived today courtesy of a friend in Japan. I also picked up the new Rebecca Taylor 2009 Fall/Winter mook (S$31.40) from Kinokuniya (Ngee Ann City).


This is the first ever Gelato Pique mook and I'm happy to say that it does not disappoint. The soft cotton tote bag has a cute deer/rabbit/squirrel print and is roomy enough to fit the mook itself. There is also a flap pocket inside.



The scrunchie (made of polyester) is not as fluffy and thick as the one that came with a recent issue of Spring magazine but it feels incredibly soft.


I was also very happy with the Rebecca Taylor mook. The grey leopard print tote bag is slightly larger than the Gelato Pique tote. It is made of felt material, which makes for a nice change from the usual cloth or polyesther totes. The interior is lined with pink polyester and has no pockets.



Like the last Rebecca Taylor mook, the bag comes with a pink plastic cat charm with pink and silver glitter. There were less than 10 copies of this mook at Kino, probably because Rebecca Taylor is not very well-known in Singapore (although Tangs Orchard carries a small selection of its clothes at its Tang+Co section).



The Agnes B. lunch tote bag is really tiny! Granted it can fit a lunch box, but I really don't see myself using this often as it's just too small. It is cute but I wouldn't queue up for two hours just to buy it. There are a few bags with the same print currently at the Agnes B. stores in Singapore.



The Marc Jacobs Daisy zip pouches and steel bangles that came with InRed are probably the best freebie I've ever seen from InRed, which is a magazine targeted at ladies in their 30s. The pouches are made of polyester and have a nice solid shape, unlike some of the more flimsy pouches that are given away with Japanese mags. Daisy also happens to be one of my favourite fragrances :-)

Paul & Joe Holiday '09

According to this Japanese blog, Paul & Joe will release its holiday collection in two parts in Japan. First out on 6 November are two Eye Color Kits (7140yen) that come in a purple and gold vanity box (10x15x15cm). There will also be a new Lip Lacquer (2940yen) in 12 shades in a squeeze tube packaging.


The kit shown below is #002, which has a smokey grey eyeliner, eyeshadow palette (gold, orange brown, warm brown). #001 has a glitter purple, warm pink and smokey blue palette and a smokey navy eyeliner.



Cosmetic Pouch III (4725yen)


On 4 December, Paul & Joe will release two coffrets that include a highlighting powder, a pearl powder and a pouch in the same purple and gold print.

Isetan Sale

The Isetan 10% Beauty Bonus voucher promotion has been extended for another 3 days. Check out the list of GWPs here. Almost all brands except Chanel are offering GWPs, including some that are not shown in the flyer, such as Anna Sui and Paul & Joe. There was also a 20% direct discount on Clarins, Givenchy (including the fall collection) and Paul & Joe (regular items only) today but I'm not sure if the discount will be continued this weekend.


Paul & Joe is giving away this vanity case (plus some skincare samples) with purchase of $160.

Cath Kidston Mook

I picked up the new Cath Kidston mook (S$34.10) at Kinokuniya (Ngee Ann City) this evening. The mega-tote bag (36x46.5x20cm) and matching zip pouch are made of a polyester and PVC blend. Both feel quite sturdy and well-made. The tote bag is almost the same size as the Marc by Marc Jacobs tote.



The tote bag can be folded up and kept inside the zip pouch, which makes it ideal for travels. The mook is pricey, costing a few dollars more than the Marc by Marc Jacobs mook but I still find it worthwhile as Cath Kidston is not retailed in Singapore. Plus I liked the polka dot and rose print, which is one of the very first Cath Kidston prints dating back to the founding of the brand.



The interior of the bag is plain with no pockets, just a tab button to hold the top of the bag together.

Isetan Private Sale: Estee Lauder & Lancome

Check out the Estee Lauder annual holiday blockbuster set at the Isetan Private Sale tomorrow. But it's one of those silly purchase-with-purchase sets (what? I need to pay you to take my money?!). The brushes are usually lousy but the lipsticks are crowd pleasers. Surprisingly, there are no nail polishes in this year's set but the 15-shade eyeshadow palette does give you plenty of options to play around with.

Lunasol Holiday '09

Lunasol's winter collection is set for release on 14 November in Japan. It includes five new Full Glamor Lips G, 5 new Nail Finishes and a limited edition Shining Face Color. In keeping with the Moonlight Purification theme, the product shades all have silver nuances.

Esprique Precious Xmas Coffret

Esprique Precious teamed up with Cosme.net, which is Japan's largest beauty product review website, in designing its 2009 Christmas coffret. Through surveys and feedback sessions with Cosme.net members, Esprique Precious came up with this winning set that is perfect for the party season. The limited edition set includes a Face Color, case, brush, Nail Color N, Glamorous Glossy Eyes and a Dress On Glossy Rouge. It will be released on 16 November in Japan. My guess is that this will sell quite quickly as it is definitely by far the most attractive Xmas coffret Esprique Precious has released in its short history.

Kesalan Patharan Holiday '09

Yet another Christmas coffret to add to those shopping lists: Kesalan Patharan's Jewelled Rose collection (8400yen) will be released on 23 October in Japan and includes a Jewelled Rose Compact with Swarovski crystals, Aqua Lip Carat and face brush.

Clarins Holiday '09

Here's a pic of the Clarins holiday collection. Looks like a shimmer face powder, an eyeshadow palette, mascara, lipstick and perhaps a face highlighter cream. Clarins has been growing on me lately as it has good quality products that aren't gimmicky and the cheerful red packaging is an added plus. So I'd definitely be checking this out!

Ettusais Holiday '09

Ettusais will release its holiday collection on 19 November in Japan.


1. Platinum Star Eye Gloss in three shades (1680yen): Each palette has a dark shade and a light shade. These are glossy creams with multi-color pearl and dry to a non-sticky finish.

The holiday coffrets are usually quite difficult to get in Japan as you either need to call very early on the first day to make a reservation (and it's usually impossible to get through) or go to the store very early to make a reservation in person. The counters set aside specific quantities for phone and walk-in reservations, as well as for sale to walk-in customers on the first day of release. Not sure what the situation is like in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea where there are also Jill Stuart counters but I'm sure these don't sit on the counters for long. Some online retailers do offer these for sale but usually at incredibly jacked up prices which for me, is just not worth it. The coffrets are cute to have, but in the world of makeup, there's always the next season and other limited edition items on the horizon.

Fall Collections

Spotted at Tangs today: the fall collections from Guerlain, Ipsa, Yves Saint Laurent and the Chanel Noirs Obscurs collection. The Chanel collection, which was just launched today, looked tempting at first and perfect for those into Gothic vampy looks. I was briefly tempted by the dark lipsticks but the texture felt a bit dry when I swatched them. These were quite pricey too at S$44 each so I passed on them.

Kiss Website Update

The Kiss website has been updated with the new Skin Fit Foundation UV(1890yen) SPF27 PA++.
