Robinsons Beauty Festival

Robinsons is holding another beauty festival from 8-24 April with gifts with purchases (GWPs) galore and additional gifts for card members.


One item that is bound to sell out quickly is the Bobbi Brown Runway Collection Set (S$150 with a retail worth of S$250) that will be exclusively available at Robinsons from 8-14 April. That palette looks lovely indeed but the previous versions tended to have more shimmer than color payoff with many of the shades virtually indistinguishable from one another once applied. The set includes the Runway Shimmer Brick Eye Palette, a silver metal compact featuring ten sheer, pure pearl eye shadows; a sparkling Pink Crystal Glitter Lip Balm; and mini Eye Shadow and Lip Brushes.




MAC will also launch its Color Ready collection exclusively at Robinsons from 8-21 April.




Estee Lauder GWP with purchase of S$160. First 100 card members will get an additional Advanced Night Repaid 7ml.


The Chanel Levres Scintillantes collection of lipsticks and lipglosses is already out at most department stores. You can sign up for a Chanel back-to-basics workshop at Wheelock Place on 25 April 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm. Just call 6735-3325 (ext 111).

Kate Moss x Topshop

Kate Moss' Spring '09 collection for Topshop just launched today at Isetan Orchard. I was very excited to see the window display as I'd been admiring the collection online since it debuted on the Topshop website on 2 April. Several of the items also sold out in less than one day on the UK website.


But based on my experience with past Kate Moss collections, the clothes in real life often turn out to be quite disappointing as the cut or fit is difficult to pull off for someone without the slender figure or rock chick air of Kate. Sometimes the quality of the fabric is also less than what I would expect given the prices, which are at the higher end of Topshop's price range. I only own two pieces from the line, a much-adored beige and navy stripe long cardigan and a pouffy sleeved navy top with a clover print. Many of the clothes eventually end up on the sale racks in Singapore. Nevertheless, the collaboration seems to have done well worldwide.


The full collection is not available yet but it usually arrives in installments over a few weeks. These are some of the pieces available now.






Kate Moss' new perfume, Summer Time is now available at Changi Airport duty-free but alas, it was another major disappointment. It smelled like an unpleasant chamomile to me even though chamomile is not one of the notes that are supposed to be in the perfume. Ah well, money saved for the next haul ;-p

Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes

More pics of the Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes palettes from Ray magazine that were just posted on 2Channel. There will be 2 pink palettes, plus one each of brown, blue, green, silver, gold and violet. It's good that MM has done away with the terrible white cream bases and cream eyeliner shades and continued the Trick On palettes' format of four powder eyeshadows. The ridged edges are reminescent of Esprique Precious' and Jill Stuart's eyeshadow palettes.

Canmake New Releases

Canmake will launch Make Me Happy (Lemon Shower) eau de toilette (155yem, 30ml) and four Nudey Glow Rouge (609yen) on 2 May in Japan.

Canmake has also just launched a Covering Powder (840yen, 3 shades) and Jewel Star Eyes (609yen, 6 shades).

Warehouse, Karen Millen, Max Studio sale

Here's another sale to tempt your wallets! Warehouse has always been one of my favourite UK high street brands, and I've recently gotten into Karen Millen as well. The Karen Millen store in Wisma Atria has fantastic service and I highly recommend it!

Laneige & Anna Sui Sightings

Laneige has finally launched its Spring '09 collection, "Art Play" in Singapore. The alien-like spring fairy packaging is designed by Finnish graphic artist Klaus Haapaniemi. There are 2 eye palettes, 2 lip palettes and a Dual Face which includes a cream concealer and pink highlighter cream. The Dual Face is about S$43 while the palettes are S$55 each.




The eyeshadow shades were too pale for my liking but I briefly contemplated getting the Dual Face as I'm always keen to try out new concealers.



Laneige is also having a warehouse sale at Robinson's Raffles City Level 3 Training Room from 10.30am to 8pm from today until 5 April. The discount is up to 80%.

Anna Sui has also launched a small makeup collection plus new face powder cases. I'm contemplating getting the eyeshadow palette which costs about the same as the Laneige palette but has much prettier shades. The texture is silky with good color payoff and a lovely shimmer.
