Sightings at Watsons

Spotted some new products at the Watsons in Ngee Ann City, like these Chupa Chups Lipglosses and Lip Balms by Kiss Me.

The scented lipglosses come with plastic spatula applicators and appear to have a bit of shimmer.

There are also new My Beauty Diary sheet mask sets in an Alice in Wonderland-themed packaging. These seem to contain the usual scents instead of new ones. There are 17 masks in each set, with three sets to choose from.

Revlon has released four Custom Eyes Shadow & Liner palettes (S$23.90). The shade combinations look quite pretty but there were no testers so I wasn't able to try them out. You can see swatches of all the palettes on FacesbySarah.

Bourjois' new Bio-detox Organic Foundations comprise 98.8% natural ingredients and also contain chlorophyll to help filter pollution. As usual, the shade selection is very limited with only two shades for the powder foundation. The online reviews for the Bio-detox liquid foundation don't appear to be all that positive though.

As Watsons was having its preview sale for members today at select stores, I took the opportunity to snag the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation, Correcting Concealer and Healthy-Glow Foundation as there was a 20%+10% discount on Bourjois. I've been wanting to try the Serum Gel Foundation after reading positive reviews about it. I also picked up two boxes of Schwarzkopf Palette Deluxe in Intensive Red Ruby as my earlier hair color by Liese Cassis Berry Bubble Hair Color is looking more brown-toned than red now and my grey hairs are looking quite obvious again (sigh).

Heavy Rotation Sexy Enamel Gloss #4 Cool Beige

Heavy Rotation Sexy Enamel Gloss #4 Cool Beige (Honey) is the most brown-toned of the four shades in the range. Unlike #1 White Beige (Vanilla) which applies mostly clear with some shimmer, #4 has better colour payoff and applies as a polished mid-toned beige.

It's not so brown-toned that it appears unnatural. Of the three that I received to review, #3 Natural Nude (Berry) and #4 Cool Beige (Honey) are my favourites. Both are easy to apply, just slick on a couple of coats and you're good to go. They wear well over a few hours although you will need to touch up after a meal.

For ladies who do not wish to bother with lipstick (which can be more high maintenance), the Sexy Enamel Glosses are worthwhile checking out if you want some delicate shine and a natural polished look without drawing too much attention to your lips.

Heavy Rotation Sexy Enamel Gloss #1

I tried the Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Sexy Enamel Gloss #1 White Beige (Vanilla) today. It appears as a very pale milky beige with micro gold shimmers in the tube.

It is less pigmented than #3 Natural Nude (Berry) and applies mostly clear and glossy with a slight milky sheen. It also lets my natural lip colour show through.

One minor drawback is that it tends to accentutate the fine lines in my lips, though this can be quickly fixed just by pressing my lips together. My guess is that if applied over a lipstick, this would probably not be an issue. (I used it without any lipstick in the pics below.)

Heavy Rotation Sexy Enamel Gloss

Heavy Rotation is another Japanese brand made by Kiss Me and currently available at the "Kawaii Corner" in Watsons as well as Sasa stores in Singapore. I was sent a set of the Heavy Rotation (also known as "Heavy-Rote" for short) Sexy Enamel Gloss (S$16.90, 7g) to review.

There are four shades available: #1 White Beige (Vanilla), #2 White Pink (Kiss), #3 Natural Nude (Berry) and #4 Cool Beige (Honey). Formulated with coconut oil and macadamia nut oil, the lipglosses keep the lips moisturised while providing a glossy enamel-like shine. They also have a light coconut scent which is detectable upon application but then quickly fades.

To dispense the lipgloss into the brush tip, just swivel the cap to the "open" position and squeeze the tube. What's good about the packaging is that the amount of lipgloss can be easily controlled, unlike some twist/click lipgloss tubes where nothing emerges for the first few clicks and then suddenly a big glob comes rushing out. When you're done applying, just swivel the cap to the "close" position.

The brush tip makes applying the lipgloss evenly a breeze although I find it a tad smaller than the usual lipgloss brush applicators.

The pic below shows #3 Natural Nude (Berry). Despite the "Berry" name, it is actually more of a slightly warm beige nude shade. On my lips, the berry tone hardly shows up but I liked the fact that the lipgloss did not wash me out. The Heavy Rote glosses are all creamy and glossy with no glitter bits or metallic shimmer. They are slightly sticky, though not as sticky as MAC lipglass. Overall, I would highly recommend these if you are interested in creating the nude lip look that is very popular among Japanese pop stars like Ayumi Hamasaki as they like to emphasise their big doll-like eyes rather than the lips.

For today's look, I used the following in addition to Sexy Enamel Gloss #3: Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara and Smooth Line Liquid Liner, Testimo Eye Bright Up Base, Lunasol Star Shower Eyes #3 Dazzling Night and Skin Modelling Eyes EX02 Blue Beige Cool, bareMinerals Matte SPF15 Foundation in Fairly Light, Benefit Erase paste and Paul & Joe Eyeliner Pencil Duo #1.

I had much better luck with the Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara today with no fibres flaking off at all. I think the trick may be to NOT apply the mascara too close to the lashline because if the fibres do not align with the lashes, they could fall in between the roots of the lashes.

The Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Liner was also much easier to use this time around. I took about one minute to line both eyes.

You can see the full line-up of Heavy Rotation on the official Japanese website. The line-up includes makeup base, powder, mascaras, eyeliners, brow powders, lip glosses and lip concealer. Mag of Makeupstash has also reviewed the Sexy Enamel Gloss in Berry.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Lipglosses

Kiss Me Heroine Make has a very popular line of mascaras that is widely available in Japanese drugstores. They've just launched a new lipgloss (1029yen) in 3 shades, pink, beige and red. These have intense shimmer and are a bit sticky, according to the first few reviews on Cosme.net.
