Shiseido Ma Cherie

Shiseido has released a revamped version of its Ma Cherie haircare line with an ad campaign featuring Japanese model/actress Yoshikawa Hinano. Formulated with champagne honey gelee, it is supposed to leave hair extra soft with a romantic floral scent.

Check out the TV CM and press conference clip below in which the 30-year old Yoshikawa, in full on act-cute princess mode, tells the interviewer excitedly about how she wanted to go nude in the CM and be filmed with just Ma Cherie.

Fasio Hyper Stay Mascara TV CM

In Japan, it is quite common for male pop stars and actors to star in commercials for women's products. Check out this hilarious Fasio TV CM for its new Hyper Stay Mascara Magna Plus (Curl Volume) featuring singer/actor Jun Matsumoto as an eyelash stylist.

Esprique Precious has updated its website with its new Spring/Summer 2010 base makeup line, including its new Dramatical Veil Pact UV (Lasting) SPF25 PA++. Available in 7 shades, it is formulated with "Diamond Shelter Powder" and "Pore Control Powder" to provide a long-lasting natural finish and coverage.

Maquillage x ICONIQ

Found this news clip on Youtube on Maquillage's press event in Japan featuring ICONIQ, who stars in their Spring 2010 ad campaign. Judging by the chatter on 2Channel, ICONIQ seems to be quite a controversial choice with many saying that she has undergone plastic surgery (then again, that is so common in Asian entertainment circles). She used to go by the name of Ayumi Lee when she was a K-pop artiste.

In the clip, she talks about how happy and fortunate she was to be chosen as a spokesmodel by Maquillage, which she found unbelievable at first. She also recounted how she went to Los Angeles to study but despite the change in environment, she felt that nothing had changed inside her so in search of some inspiration, she decided to cut her hair. In line with Maquillage's latest ad slogan ("Change yourself. You can change the world"), she talks about how change is good and that she hopes that all women will have that special encounter that allows them to change themselves.

Maybelline Japan TV Ads

I love watching cosmetic commercials as they always make even the most affordable drugstore brands look amazing. Here are some from Maybelline Japan where their biggest seller are the mascaras and hence, most of the TV ads are for their mascaras.

Christy Turlington is one of my favourite supermodels of all time. Her face is just perfect. I was very glad to see her re-hired by Maybelline a few years ago. She has much more personality and class than all the other younger Maybelline models put together.

New Tsubaki CM

Here's the new TV CM for Shiseido's Tsubaki shampoo range. It does not introduce any new products but Japanese newscaster Takigawa Christel joins the line-up of celebrities promoting Tsubaki. Tsubaki's hair conditioners (both the red and white versions) are among my favourite haircare products as they always leave my hair soft and manageable without product build-up.

They are cheesy and super hilarious, especially the ones where Misaki Ito bounces a man off her juicy, plump lips and another one where she literally knocks a man off his feet with the power of her dramatic eyelashes!

Esprique Precious CM

Check out the new Esprique Precious commercial for its Beauty Skin Pact (Moisture) powder foundation SPF 15 PA++ featuring Gemma Ward. I've been using the Beauty Skin Pact (UV) which is the spring/summer version in OC405 for the past few weeks and am impressed by it. It is a breeze to apply as it goes on smoothly, the color match is excellent and just looks so natural that it looks like you have good skin instead of a face caked with heavy makeup. The coverage is good enough to tone down redness and even out my skintone as well as reduce the appearance of enlarged pores (my biggest skin problem aside from acne). My skin always gets oily after a few hours but with the Esprique Precious foundation, I just need to blot with an oil-removing sheet and my foundation looks as good as when I applied it.
