Shiseido Fall 2010 Swatches Part 2

Aside from the Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios, the Shiseido fall collection also includes several new base makeup products.

First up is the Nourishing Mascara Base (S$41) which helps to condition lashes, provide a longer-lasting curl and volume. According to the Shiseido marketing executive, many customers were first attracted to the brand because of their mascara base. There is also a new Perfect Mascara Defining Volume (S$46) which provides up to 200% volume and comes in black and brown.

For helping to create a flawless visage, there is a new Pore Smoothing Corrector (S$60, 15ml) and Refining Makeup Primer (S$53, 30ml). The Pore Smoothing Corrector can be applied after skincare or the makeup base in the areas of concern.

The Refining Makeup Primer (swatched on the right in the pic below) is formulated with oil-absorbing powder and Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE for moisturising benefits.

Natural Finish Cream Concealer (S$48) is a high-coverage concealer that can be used for spots, dark circles, acne scars, dullness and redness. It is available in six shades.

#6 Honey is a special color that can cover subdued skin tones with bluish spots or dullness.

The fall collection also includes five new shades of Perfect Rouge (S$43). I was impressed by how creamy and moisturising these applied, with a soft sheen.

The pic below shows BR735 Tawny on the left and RD732 Blush on the right.

Next up is a preview of Maquillage's fall collection!

Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio

Earlier this week, Mag and I were invited to preview the new Shiseido Fall 2010 makeup collection at Shiseido's office. The collection introduces a new line of Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios designed by Dick Page, Shiseido Makeup Artistic Director.

The Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios are a marked improvement over the Silky Eye Shadow Quads in terms of texture and colour payoff. True to the name, there is a lovely luminosity to several of the shades in the new trios. They feel incredibly silky to touch and glide on with a velvety smoothness. The swatches below were done without use of any primer underneath. Most shades took just one swipe to show up. The shades apply true to how they appear in the pan.

The playful shade combinations were inspired by various landscapes and sights from around the world. For example, GD804 Opera was inspired by a Golden Statuary on the roof of the Opera Garnier in Paris set against a blue springtime sky. This palette was used on the model in the ad visual.

BR307 Strata: A detail shot of a rock face in Chaco, New Mexico

GY901 Snow Shadow: Taken from a plane flying over Long Island, New York on a winter afternoon

OR302 Fire: A detail of a campfire in Nevada

PK403 Boudoir: An unmade bed in a room glowing with diffused light

GR305 Jungle: Taken in the rainforest of Dominica in the West Indies

YE406 Tropicalia: A detail shot of a vividly succulent plant in a garden in Lose Angeles, California

A veritable rainbow of colours!

The Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios will retail for S$51 each in Singapore. This is quite a bit cheaper than Japan where they retail for 4200yen (S$66).

The rectangular pans of the new trios also makes for much easier access even with large brushes compared to the narrow quarter-of-an-oval pans of the old quads. The new trios contain 3g of product whereas the old quads contained 2.5g. Each palette comes with a brush and a dual-ended sponge-tip applicator.

You can read Mag's post about the new palettes here. I'll do a separate post about the other new Shiseido products that we got to test out.

Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy

FANet has posted pics of the two palettes from the Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy collection that will be released on 1 November in Japan. Featuring cover illustrations by Japanese artist Takano Aya, each will retail for 7140yen.

The colour combinations look quite lovely but in my experience, the cream bases and liner shades are usually quite mediocre, but still Shu Uemura keeps putting them in these palettes. The names are quite unusual in Japanese, so I'm not too sure how they will be translated into English. The palette on the right is called "Wanwan! Magic Queen Palette".

Luxasia Sale Haul (mainly RMK)

I wasn't able to make it to the first day of the Luxasia sale but thanks to a good friend, I managed to snag these lovelies. With the exception of the Barbie Loves Stila Smudge Pot, the rest are all from RMK. According to the feedback on Cozycot, most of the good makeup buys were snapped up very early with ladies even going in with trolleys.

RMK Ingenious Natural Eyes N #6 (S$35)

RMK Ingenious Translucent Eyes 02 Translucent Green (S$20)

RMK Jelly Eye Color 05 Lavender Ice (S$12 for refill, $3 for case)

RMK Jelly Eye Color 03 Spearmint Green (S$12 for refill, $3 for case)

Barbie Loves Stila Smudge Pot in Cobalt Blue (S$14)

RMK Ingenious Gel Eyeliner EX03 Shiny Green (S$20)

RMK Ingenious Gel Eyeliner EX04 Shiny Purple (S$20). Both gel eyeliners had cracked slightly around the edge.

The Gel Eyeliners come with an applicator that has a brush on one end that when retracted, pushed out a sponge tip on the other.

Olay Press Event

Mag (of Makeupstash.com) and I were invited earlier this week to attend an Olay press event to preview the new additions to their Regenerist and White Radiance lines.

Held at the elegant Les Amis restaurant, the event was attended by journalists from various local women's magazines such as Her World, Cleo, Shape etc.

The event started with model/designer Colleen Francisca and model/makeup artist Joanna Koh sharing their approach towards skincare and their search for effective skincare products that help to keep their skin youthful looking. I was seated opposite Colleen, who has won several beauty pageants including 2006 Miss Singapore World, and have to say that her skin and makeup was absolutely flawless. Seeing models up close always feels somewhat surreal because their facial features are so perfectly proportioned, no matter what angle you look at them from.

Next, dermatologist Dr Cheong Wai Kwong spoke about the importance of using the right skincare products daily to maintain your skin in tip top condition even if you go for beauty treatments.

The final presentation was by Proctor & Gamble skincare scientist Dr David Khoo who explained the key innovations and ingredients in Olay's new Regenerist and White Radiance line-ups. In order to meet the skincare needs of women who are not keen to undergo cosmetic treatments, Olay's "early step cell care" approach addresses anti-ageing and whitening issues at the start of the series of chain reactions within the cell that affect skin ageing and pigmentation.

There are two new additions to the White Radiance line-up: CelLucent White Essence and CelLucent White Cream.

White Radiance CelLucent White Essence (S$59.90, 40ml) is a daily treatment serum that contains Olay's CelLucent Complex. The innovative ingredient in this is Sepiwhite which helps to prevent the formation of melanin at the early stage in cells and Vitamin B3 which helps to limit melanin transfer to the skin surface. In-vitro tests have shown that Sepiwhite is more effective than other common whitening ingredients such as kojic acid, mulberry, azelaic acid and Vitamin C in reducing melanin content in melanocyte cells.

The essence is dispensed through a dropper, which lets you control the amount easily. This had a very light texture that absorbs easily without any skin tightness or oiliness.

The White Radiance CelLucent White Cream (S$59.90, 50g) is a 'shape-memory gel' with more intensive moisturising properties than the essence. It also contains the CelLucent complex to help reduce skin pigmentation, enhance skin renewal and hydration levels.

This also absorbs easily without any greasiness. It also felt clearly more hydrating than the White Essence.

For ladies who are more concerned about skin firming and preventing wrinkles, Olay has designed a new Regenerist Superstructure Cream SPF30 and Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum. Both contain an aminopeptide complex of anti-ageing ingredients such as PAL-KTTKS, Pro-Vitamin B5, niacinamide, carnosine and anti-oxidants. The aminopeptide PAL-KTTKS acts at the cell surface to trigger the production of collagen, fibronectin and elastin while niacinamide helps to even skin tone, enhance cell renewal and boost collagen production.

The Superstructure Cream (S$59.90, 50ml) helps to prevent sun damage and loss of skin collagen's structural integrity. The cream provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

The cream's texture is denser than CelLucent White Cream and takes a bit more time to absorb.

After a few minutes, the cream had almost completely absorbed. This will probably work best for dry skintypes.

At the end of the event, we received a set of the new products to try out. Look for these to launch in our local stores in October.
