Sweet and Bea's Up November 2010

Aside from Women's Weekly, I also picked up the November issues of Sweet and Bea's Up at Kinokuniya earlier this evening. Both feature Japanese pop star Ayumi Hamasaki on the cover.

Sweet (S$19) comes with a Paul & Joe vanity case and zip pouch. The magazine itself is about one inch thick!

The pouches are made of polyester. Both are very well made, with neat stitching, a black inner lining and reinforced edges. They are of similar quality to the GWP pouches that are usually given out at the Paul & Joe cosmetic counters.

The zip pouch can fit inside the vanity case, which has two inner pockets (one under the lid and the other along the side).

They make a nice set together with the wristlet bag that was the GWP at the Paul & Joe counters in Singapore for the Clair de Lune fall makeup collection. The wristlet bag has a more satiny finish.

Bea's Up (S$16.40) comes with a shimmery baby pink Treatment Lip Glossy (Sweet Shine). The lipgloss (3g) is a collaboration item with makeup artist Chigara Keiko, Bea's Up and Be-zen. The lipgloss usually retails at 1260yen for 10g.

This issue also features the upcoming holiday coffrets from the various beauty brands. Great for planning one's holiday shopping list!

There were plenty of copies of Sweet at the Ngee Ann City store when I was there in the evening but only one copy of Bea's Up. If you are interested in Bea's Up, you can check with Kinokuniya on whether/when there will be a second shipment.

Hi Iris!

I'm sure you've seen this blog - http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/kikra/, but she's probably got an awesome warehouse's worth of mag/mook freebies. Thanks to her (and you!), I've been buying magazines as well as backissues XD

I just ordered 7 mags from Amazon.co.jp haha! Since I got so many mags it turned out worthwhile, about €10 per mag incl. shipping...not cheap but considering all the mags weigh close to 8 kg together it´s ok lol!

Last time I ordered from Amazon JP was about 1 1/2 years ago (May issues from 2009) so I thought it´s justified. I love Japanese mags and their freebies and the ones shortly before xmas are definitely the nicest issues so I had to have some to admire for the next 1 1/2 years hehe!

Hey Kathi,
Looking forward to seeing your magazine haul! Japanese magazines still give the best freebies and they are so difficult to resist. I've tried to cut back on my purchases and get only the ones that I want.

hi,
Biteki, Maquia and Voce should have good coverage of the holiday collections but these issues are not out yet so I can't say which is the best. The Bea's Up was quite good too covering about 67 brands. You can ask to browse the Japanese magazines at the Japanese books counter in Kinokuniya before deciding which one to purchase.

hi Anya,
I don't know if it is available here yet. I'll reply here if I see it at the counter. Or if you are in Singapore, you can call the counter to ask. The Isetan Orchard (Wisma Atria) Paul & Joe counter's telephone number is 6235-1610.
