Canmake Summer '08

The Canmake website has finally been updated with the new summer collection, Sunset Beauty! There are three new bronze-themed Colour Stripe Palettes (924yen)that each contain a cheek colour, 2 eyeshadows and a highlight shade as well as a dual-ended sponge tip applicator/nylon brush. That tiny brush is unlikely to be much good for applying blush evenly and the shades look like they could get somewhat messy as they are not housed in individual palettes. Nevertheless, it's definitely an affordable, fun option that's worth checking out.

The collection also includes 2 new shades of Pop'n'Jelly Gloss (567yen), #6 shiny beige and #7 rose quartz. The model in the ad, Rina, is wearing Colour Stripe Palette #1 and Pop'n'Jelly Gloss #7.

Joining in the trend for gel eyeliners, Canmake has launched its version, Gel Eyeliner (924yen) in 2 shades, #1 Strong Black and #2 Metallic Gold. A great feature of Canmake's version is that the brush is cleverly hidden within the cap and you can turn it around and snap it in to form a longer handle that is easier to hold. I think this is the cheapest gel liner that I've seen among the Japanese brands so far. (Kate's highly-raved version, which is also the market bestseller, retails for 1575yen or 1260yen after the usual 25% drugstore discount.)
